Those look great! Custom fabrication FTW. Could any muffler shop fab something like that?

Custom set-up, with some Ebay polished stainless tips, possibly for a camaro , welded to stock cans.

Keep in mind that I think the Wagon cut-outs areslightly larger than the Sedan cut-outs. If the tips were maybe 1/8-1/4" smaller in diameter each, then that would mean 1/4-1/2" smaller across, allowing more tuck. At the same time, we decided not to tuck them too much for fear of melting the bumper. And so far, that has been great ;)

Here are a few pics...

lawl, Do you have any in car videos (to hear if any drone) and pictures of the exhaust from further away?

I have a Perrin mid and y and was planning to the same customer mufflers as praedet because I don't want to hear any drone during my daily 35 mile commute at 70-80mph...but if you're saying there's no drone in the cabin I may have to sell everything and spring for this!

no drone in the front at all. backseat... its a little louder but i wouldnt really call it a drone at all.

hope this helps. i've had a few catbacks on this car, and 6 (!!!) on my s2000 and for both cars the q300 muffler has been THE best...

both my cars run invidias for a reason. :)

^ Those bends/angles don't look like they're going to be an easy fit, for any current aftermarket Y or the factory Y....

Question -- Is the darker area on the left side of the bumper caused by the exhaust?

Also, how easy is it to cut off the tips and replace with something like E-Tank's custom look? :)

^ The white BP isn't E-Tank, that's praeted's awesome wagon. :)

Those tips are a Y shape.... they mate over your stock tailpipe. and then branch out into two tips. The invidia has two completely separate tips coming off the muffler.

I understand that. I'm asking how difficult it'll be for a shop to cut off those two tips and replace with the ones that look like the ones on the white wagon above.

why even bother getting that CBE if you're gonna do that? just do it to your stock setup. or get aftermarket mufflers and do it to those, and get pipes fit to the stock Y-pipe

If I could get the same exhaust notes, I would. But I'm not sure that's the case...

^ One of the things that lawl asked of Invidia, early on, was rolled tips - Invidia said that there would not be sufficient clearance, given the desire to snug the tips into the cut-outs.

I think a lot of whether or not your custom shop is going to be able to meet your request would be dependent on the "spread" between the tips, BCP.

Apparently I forgot to respond. It's not do able.

The Invidia exhaust has two exits from the muffler. The tips on the white wagon only has one inlet (and creates a quad tip), which slips over a muffler that has one exit....

Thus the muffler you want would look like a stock muffler, not the Invidia. An exhaust shop will not be able to a dual tip muffler and turn it into a single tip. Buy a single tip muffler like a thrush or something...

I have tips like the one on the wagon that I will probably be selling. But, let me tell you those tips don't fit well under the sedan bumper....look up "rurouni_x" and his car... he has the same tips...

^ Oh, and that reminds me, I should clarify my post above, too.

What *_I_* had meant was that if BCP wanted to put dual rolled tips there - that he would, essentially, buy 4 individual rolled tips, cut-off the current single-wall tips standard of the Invidia product, and then weld the replacements in their place - that there still could potentially be clearance issues, per the description/request from lawl, at the very beginning of this thread.

I got curious, since I seemed to remember seeing rurouni_x's pix, so I started digging. :)

http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=117660&highlight=tips

To me, that looked great - nice and snug....

But then I saw this thread:

http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95405&highlight=tips

Still looks awesome, but compared to those on praedet's wagon, it seems like the ones on rurouni_x's sedan are brought further "out," away from the vertical plane of the rear bumper, so as to allow the natural taper of the tips, as they head towards their own Y junction, to fill the space of the cut-outs.

You can see the difference in ArcTec's project:

http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87412&highlight=tips

Look at post #31.

They're displaced lower, more towards the ground, and I think that's because ArcTec's setup did not have the tips protruding "out" as much.

So, the question for those seeking the custom rolled-tip configuration - is there such a thing, out there, that is of either slightly smaller diameters, or perhaps a shorter "tip length" (so that you could still use the taper of the Y split to "snug" the tips, but with shorter tips, they'd protrude less, beyond the bumper)?

The OD of the tips for rurouni, ArcTec and praedet's are 3.5", which are the smallest I could find for a rolled tip in a y configuration. ArcTec's exhaust hangs too low for my taste.

Something like this would probably tuck the best - http://www.techtonicstuning.com/showpart.asp?partnum=254.385V

But, we're off topic!

^ Those look single-walled to me, but it must be the picture - it says that it incorporates "Venturies," so I'd imagine that they're double-walled....

You're right, we're OT. :redface::)

But heck, I just bought the Invidia yesterday, from FredBeans, so I guess I feel entitled to just discuss, freely, ideas! :);)

They may be single walled, but they're 2.5" tips each. I think 3" is the max you can tuck into the exhaust cutouts (for the sedan). 3.5" does not fit well.

I really want to pull the trigger on the Invidia and then make a comparison between my Perrin Mid-Y set up amd the Invidia...I'm just waiting for my end of year compensation :(
