Infiniti Essence Concept

Recommended Posts

Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrty....

Comes with twin-turbo VQ37 and an electric motor. Total power comes in at 592 hp (434 for the VQ and 158 for the electric motor). Forget the electric motor, just put the twin-turbo VQ37 into the G37x sedan/coupe and I will be one happy camper.

Rumours have been floating around for a while that Infiniti would get a car to use the GT-R engine. At first it was thought the G coupe would get the engine then it went to a four door sedan or SUV/CUV.

It could be just a concept and I doubt that the new G37C would get a major refresh so soon. However, a new model Infiniti coupe could make sense, if they launch with a new sedan(ie. Q or M). Nissan has wanted Infniti to go farther up in the Luxury market. It's interesting that LV would pair up with Infiniti.

I remember hearing that the Infiniti GT-R is dead.

The article did mention that the coupe is fairly large so I don't think it's mean to be a G37 replacement concept, M coupe is a possibility. Audi and Merc both have somewhat large GT coupes while Infiniti only has the G. I'm not sure how good of an idea it's to bring a large GT coupe to the market right though... The VG37TT would make a good replacement for the 4.5L V8 in the M45.

I'm waiting for IWSS to chime in anytime now asking why Subaru can't make a car like this. I thought the profile looks a LOT like the Fisker Karma as the autoblog post mentioned.

And no, Gire, you didn't miss it. :D:lol:

Actually, I think the car had promise, until they came to the design of the grille, and the C-pillars. They tried to be original, and they failed to be aesthetically pleasing.

The grille looks like the face of a screeching woman, which is unfortunate. I like the idea of a grille lower than the bumper line. Just not THAT fish-faced grille. I thought the G37 had a fish-face, but this is FAR beyond that.

and the C-pillars are odd from every single angle. The side windows are too vertical, and the rear glass too narrow, and the C-pillars that frame both of those are far too thick, and just damn odd. The rear quarter window makes me think that Genesis coupe's rear quarter window might not be so bad after all...

The general profile, sans the rear quarter window treatment, is not so bad, and some of the surfaces are quite nice... I like the lighting, as well.

The interior is not bad but if it is possible to be too-driver-oriented, this car might be it. The passenger seat looks like the dunce-chair over in the corner, and the passenger being shunned from all involvement with the dash and console, and almost walled off from the driver. I like a cockpit themed interior, but this is pushing that to the limit.

Yeah, yeah, hybrid-power... whoopie. Heere's hoping an Infiniti coupe comes out better looking than this concept, and having a 400hp VK50-VVEL V8, from the FX50. It is claimed that the styling of this concept pushes forward from the G-coupe and the FX50... I think the FX50 is atrocious-looking, too, though.

Ahhhhhh, my day is now complete.

But what is with the weird table top crease under the doors? On side profile it looks really strange... I know the shadows accentuate it more on some pics than others, but I'm not feeling it.

Rumour is that this car will see production. Apparently, Nissan is itching to push Infiniti into the upper tier of luxo makers and they want to use this car to make a big splash in euro land.
