While conversing with my RS25.com peoples i was sent this photo of EJ253 out of a 07 Impreza 2.5i with a (you guessed it WRX manifold bolted on)

The more awesome part about this build was that he DIDNT have to MOD the WRX manifold he had mid pipe fabbed to fit to it (go figure) I think that this may be that the same cross member is used btwn both trims of the impreza so it was more easily adapted to fit or he notched his lower control arm and used a two bolt flange. Anyway he got a way better feel from his impreza 2.5i after the change and he also dyno'd it dont have the official graph or anything but there was little or no gain but more importantly NO LOSS.

I was waiting for something to post as far as progress, but I am waiting again for home depot to get the proper band saw blade so I can make some nice clean cuts in the manifold.......stalled due to home depot. it should be cut up this weekend. (fingers crossed)

So I bolted the EJ255 exhaust to my car this weekend and here are some tips to save you time and anger or frustration. 1) dont bolt the three part manifold together then try to bolt i that to your engine the holes wont line up quite right they will be uber close but off.2) bolt the two collectors on first 3) bolt the cross pipe in and use extra gaskets!!!! this will help ensure a good seal because you dont want to tighten the cross pipe so much that it start to pull on the studs going into your heads. I used two OEM LGT x-pipe gaskets for each connection (x-pipe to left side and X-pipe to right side) I tightened those up all snug. I did all this to that I could get the right angle for the flange in relation to the crossmember and mid pipe. I started the car just to hear the rumble and wow! LOUD!. dropping the mocked one off again at the welding shop to have that flange put on.

Also while I had the header and mid pipe off just for fun i didt bolt the mid pipe to the axle back and wanted to hear the difference minus that huge blimp in the rear makes and call me crazy but my car had a decent rumble to it so much so that I bet a good fabbed catback with resonator and mufflers wouldnt be as ricey sounding as we once thought. the few exhaust ive heard are mostly just mufflers not full CBE

Just wanted to share that in case ppl wondered about stuff

yeah also the correct point to saw the up pipe flange off is just past the 02 bung if you have a Ej255 manifold and past the heat Shield nipple if you have a EJ22 manifold. IF you can visualize draw a straight line on the manifold up pipe flange section about 5 inches from the flange the angle should be about 25 degree offset from that line.

no he doesnt have just any gt, he has a 2006 Spec b the most overpriced LGT of them all  paid all that extra money for an ugly red leather interior and a navigation. Either way i'm upgrading to a LGT soon, but this whole N/A vs. LGT flaming is rediculous, let people do what they want to their car, theyre the ones who have to drive it.

thanks! I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders now that it's done. here are some pics of the manifold, and the only reason you can hear it as much as you can is because I employed the "hogzawst"

go with the avo one, I met someone with the avo cbe on an 08 impreza wagon and when idling it had a nice rumble to it but when driving it just sounded like she was flooring it the entire time, with the uel header it'll probably sound great

you want a bung hole as pretty as mine. ha!

Short of having your exact piece until the UEL header gets off the ground YES I do. hahaha ive got a manifold chopped ready for a bung and flange. Most of the welding shops in my area are only open 8-5 M-F and I work 8-5 M-F  You clearly know a guy that can divvy the piece up nicely. Basically how much did you shell out on the modification ?
