whobaru
Took a little longer because after I fed the wires through my dust cap, had it all ready to go and found the bottom screw part of the protective cap on the hid bulb would not slide over the bulb. I had to unfeed everything and take of the protective shield on the bulb then feed everything through, being careful not to touch the bulb to anything. Why didn't you just break them off? whobaru
Not really. I'm wondering if you're confusing the dark spots in the door for a return wire.
PRODRIVEN
Why didn't you just break them off? Thought about just breaking it but didn't want to slip and damage the bulb.

MiniStiGuy
on the left beam it has a shadow in the exact position that most kits return wires sit. if you happen to have cut the tab and put the return wire at 6'o clock position then thats an odd shadowing. Get some shots off a regular wall and we can really tell. OEM HID's Rx330 Retro

clemsrs
It's actually quite distinct... 2nd pic. Trace the diagonal shadow on the left side light. You can see it as a "cone" shape. Starts out as a point on the door of the car wash, then gradually widens as it heads down. Need better shots though. But if you installed the kit as is, guaranteed that the shadow will be there. These very obvious on plain walls, but when driving, you can totally tell where the road is not lit. Most people are impressed by the "bright/white/whatever" shade color that they tend to overlook this fact. But, use the HIDs for a bit, then switch back to halogen. It won't be as bright, but you'll suddenly notice a more uniform beam pattern, you can suddenly see more to the side of your car too. At least those were the first things I noticed immediately AFTER installing HIDs.

tommypenguin
I've had mine on for a little while now, and I still love mine, light output is much better over stock overall, IMO.
SpecBee
Figured I would post my install and the few changes from the original walkthrough. First I removed the portion of the shipping cover and taped the outer cover on the bulb. I removed the plastic clip from the bulb plug so I only had to notch a V on the cover. Drilled 1" hole and trimmed excess with knife and notched a V. The I mounted the beam clamp on the frame a made a plate for mounting the Ballast. I re-tapped the ballast holes to 8x32 and mounted the ballast to the plates. I put blue marking tape on my fence to confirm proper alignment. There is a shot with both new and old lights. Plus I keep the old bulbs in the shipping covers in my trunk for emergencies.... Hope this helps.
MiniStiGuy
drilling = no, no for me.... but glad your happy. btw the beam should still be stepped just as it was stock so if yours is straight then you have a problem with the bulb being seated wrong. SpecBee
Today 08:36 PM MiniStiGuy drilling = no, no for me.... but glad your happy. btw the beam should still be stepped just as it was stock so if yours is straight then you have a problem with the bulb being seated wrong. Huh? seated wrong? I did not trim to rotate but it is seated in the housing like the old Halogen bulb...I did adjust them down a few days after the mod.... MiniStiGuy
the beam pattern is a stepped pattern so if yours is straight across then something is wrong. Make sure the bulbs are seated flush sometimes people get them a bit sideways. http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u280/garrett804/Picture2copy.jpg Here's my thread about how to aim the lights properly to DOT spec's. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54740 OEM HID's Rx330 Retro

GrayT
Not sure on the Apexcone kit, but I mounted my driver side DDM ballast behind the battery. Plenty of clearance there.
whobaru
Took the battery out?
GrayT
Took the battery out? Yes, removed the battery. I used the sticky to place the ballast on the fuse box, and the ballast faces the battery. When you put the battery and the tie-down back in the bay, you can't really see the ballast unless you look very closely. I can get some pictures if anyone is interested. underpowerd
is anyone using the battery harness that's currently part of the ddm kit? hoping to get my kit in this weekend; looks pretty straightfoward, but any feedback on this part appreciated (ie, is it just a safety measure, drl still need disabling? etc.). thanks, and great writeup/contributions, gents.
