Rommel
Kevin you can get a used Boxster for around $20k if you don't mind driving the lowest level of Porsche. Or get a used S2000.

Rommel
You have to keep the MS3. The smallest kid will fit in the back compartment, another on the front compartment and the third will sit next to you.

Boostjunkie
Get the Vette. I helped Yimi work on an 05 GTO last week and it was a nice car. They are super cheap ($25K or so brand new). We bolted on a Magnacharger blower kit on it (great and incredibly complete kit BTW) and it was a strong running car and still 50 state smog legal to boot. The LS2 is a great motor and the upcoming LS3 looks very promising as well. I do think that the Vette is a great choice because it is fairly lightweight and has a ton of power. What a difference from the MS3 though. Enjoy the on demand power-on oversteer!
Mines
If getting a new DD and a new weekend car is out of the budget, I get a 07 vette. I bet they will have VERY good discounts once the 08 comes out. The 07 z51 is still a very nice car, look how well it did on the car and driver lightning lap.

wukindada
Keep the MS3 & go with the 08 Vette..... You should be able to get a Z51 version for around 45k if you wait a few months after the release Toyota 6EATS .........SUCK!!!!!!

BOXRPWR
glad to see all the support for the 08 Vette decision. I do plan to wait a few months. In fact, it will probably be around March 08. I need time to save up a decent downpayment (approx. $10G). I also want to wait and see what the reviews are and final pricing for that VW diesel that hopefully will be selling in CA. BoxerGT2.5
I'd keep the car and pick up a nice little 55 Porsche speedster for a weekend car. OBAMA......One Big Ass Mistake America!
RobE
You can get a Civic Si for under $20k otd, I think that would make a pretty sweet dd. http://newenglandsubarus.com/
BOXRPWR
a Civic SI would be a nice DD, but I'm afraid that I wouldn't be able to keep it out of "full VTEC boil" most of the time. So its effective fuel economy would probably suck.
BOXRPWR
wow, the engineering behind VW's upcoming "Clean Diesel" engine technology is really NASA-grade stuff. here's a vid link with a decent technical discussion with a VW rep: http://www.popularmechanics.com/blogs/automotive_news/4218116.html here's a decent overview of VW's "Clean Diesel" technology: http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews/sedans/0708_volkswagen_jetta_clean_diesel/ definately exciting stuff for a really good daily driver choice! GTTuner
Whatever you do, do not buy a Saab. I've had my 9-3 Convertible 2.0t two weeks and it has broken twice already:mad: An AC clutch= $400.00 bucks just for the part plus one hour laying on my back. Convertible top is malfunctioning already, going to the dealer tomorrow.
psi365
Just my noobie .02 Personally you could always wait for either the new Camaro or Challenger Srt8 to hit the streets. It gives you chance to save up for more of a down payment. M3's and vette's are a dime a dozen type of car. If you were willing to even go used you could find a 964 Turbo (single turbo, rear wheel drive, 89-94), maybe a 993 TT (96-98, awd, last of the air cooled), or even a 996 TT X50 (water cooled, awd). I speak from actual wheel time in a 911's and 911 turbo's(even a GT2). I used to be a Porsche apprentice. My personal favorite is the 993 body style (95-98 911). Very few problems with the later cars, and they keep their value extremely well. Even the regular 993's had 285hp and are a blast to drive. IIRC the 993 TT was rated at 405hp. Yeah they aren't a drag car, but they are an extremely balanced car which for the few vette's I have driven I didn't feel that they were at all. Plus I can't go anywhere that I don't see at least one vette. I can't say the same thing about a 911. Do a quick search on a 993 and see what their prices are. I can't say the same thing about a 911 If you lived in So Cal, you would not say this. Out here, I see just about as many 911's as I see vette's. BOXRPWR
quick search on eBay motors finds a half dozen or so 1997 993 Turbo models with Buy-it-Now pricing in the $60-$70k range. amazing that a decade later the car is still valued at roughly 70% of the original sticker price ($99k) http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a373/BOXRPWR/Porsche993Turbo2.jpg
