Mark34
Looks like you're trying to get into the passanger side one. You should be able to take those small flat screw drivers and insert into the seam where the two parts of the cover join. I think I did mine at the bottom first and worked my way up. bdickey058
Turn the car to on, and put your seatbelt on and off just keep on clicking it in the thingy for like 30 seconds. do it as fast as you can then turn the car all the way on and it will disable your chime! Mark34
From reading around on here, a lot of people have mixed reviews on the click method. It seems like sometimes it randomly comes back on, and then it seems like it always comes back on if you have the battery disconnected for any period of time. It seriously takes like 3 minutes to do the quick switch mod that is permanent. Were you able to get into the housing?

Mark34
That's wierd. Your buckle looks different from our driver's side one. It looks more like our passanger buckle. Still, there should be a seam where the two sides of each housing join. You should be able to wedge a small jewely size flat screw driver into the seam and begin prying it apart. If it slips out you risk scratching the housing some, but you shouldn't be able to break it.
gtspec84
hmm i was thinking since my drivers side is the USA passengers side, i might need to go to the my passenger side (USA drivers side) to make the change.. im not at my car now but will be soon enough and will check.. fingers crossed
RustyShackleford
Just want to put in a pointer to the "nuclear option" where you remove or silence the actual chime bell itself: http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83382 Quite a bit more work, but it gets rid of ALL chimes. That's important to me, because I'm a lot more annoyed by the inability to sit in the car and listen to the radio (with the key in the ignition and the engine off) without the annoying chime. IF you go this way, read to the end of the thread, where I added some pretty helpful (IMHO) explanations.
machgirl
Ok, so what about disabling the stupid seatbelt blinking light??!! Mine won't shut off, and do not know why.
RustyShackleford
Ok, so what about disabling the stupid seatbelt blinking light??!! Mine won't shut off, and do not know why. I wouldn't expect the chime-removal method to address this, and I've never tried the clicking-the-seat-belt-20-times or (whatever it is) method. So I'm no help, sorry. Mark34
My way does because it makes the car think the buckle is buckled.
machgirl
What is 'your' way? lol. I'd really like to just take out the light bulb....
BigInALegacy
I did the 20 in and out method... I don't think my light comes on anymore... not 100% though. only time it resets is when you disconnect the battery, iirc.
Mark34
What is 'your' way? lol. I'd really like to just take out the light bulb.... Reference my post # 119 on page 8. This is only for the driver's light though, it does nothing for the passenger one.
machgirl
How did you take that clip out? I have looked at the latch on the door, and tried to see if there was a way to open it to check it out....

machgirl
OH so that is from the seatbelt latch beside the seat, NOT the latch on the door correct? I am not so sure I wanna take things apart...I'd prolly mess it up. I think I'm going to just take some electrical tape and put it over the light.. Mark34
Yes, that is buckle between the center console and the seat. I'm not sure what you're talking about by the door. It's pretty hard to mess it up, you can do it! The only thing you might do is scratch the housing a little bit.
bluebird
just did it - that chime was driving me nuts !! Nice and quiet now !! Thanks !
Xterior
So I did this today and now what is the solution for the passenger seat? The buckle inside is not the same as the drivers
robertsm99
If you look through this thread, maybe around page 6 or so, I added picts and what not about doing the mod on the passenger side.
BigInALegacy
I did the 20-clicks and it's been fine for over a year.
exarus
My experience: The buckle is a pain in the ass to pry open, and is near impossible to open without scuffing the edges. Method works though.
