Jacks GT
No but we do get a diesel, and the old XT. Give them time we'll get the 2.5xt again soon with 6 speed muhahaha
f1anatic
My 2009 Forester came tonight. Got the call about 10 min ago but they said that it is best if i pick it up tomorrow. I guess I have to comply. f1anatic
Question: Why isn't Subaru offering Dual Range transmissions in the manual models ? They do in Europe: I have seen last year an Outback as well as the old Forester equipped with that. http://www.motiontrends.com/2005/m10eng/subaru1/forester.shtml
Jacks GT
That right there looks quite the versatile truck, i think id rather be out in the sticks in that than pretty much anything (putting aside, jeep, landy, and landcruiser) And subaru does f1 its just soa that dont muhahahaha. they used to along long time ago...and if the forester hits the o/r market like i should i would expect to see one put in there very soon
Beanboy
Low range isn't really a low range though, nowhere near what low-range in say a Wrangler is. I don't think it would allow you to do things you can't do now, just might make things easier (say boat ramp). 4-speed is known to be able to handle more power than 5-speed, so for those Forester XT folks above 350WHP, one less thing to worry about...as much. -B http://www.standardshift.com
godwhomismike
Mike...how about the XT? My thoughts on my new 2009 Forester XT Limited w/ Navigation: My 2009 Forester XT feels equally as quick as my 2005 Legacy GT Limited (automatic). I have to say that I am extremely happy with my 2009 Forester XT. I used to wait eagerly for my multitude of automotive magazine subscriptions to come each month. Now, I could care less. I have no desire to have any other vehicle anymore. If I have any desire for anything, it would be for some mod stuff, like a set of dedicated winter tires/wheels, summer tires, rear sway bar, drop in high flow air filter. It's more of a wish list, than something I feel like I need. In its current form, I am thrilled to death with it. The SPT exhaust makes me grin each time I drive it. Today, I was heading home from Manhattan, and drove through a couple of tunnels. I lowered my window, put her in manual mode, and ran though first and second. The sound of it echoing though the tunnel was awesome!!!! My 2009 Forester XT Limited with Navigation sounds just like an STi w/ the WRX ('08 4-door) SPT exhaust. Videos: (Listen with dedicated speeds with good bass or high quality headphones for best sound) In-car driving: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wghoLP-uL-I]YouTube - 2009 Forester XT Limited w/ SPT Exhaust[/ame] Outside revving: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05PV5bORjJE]YouTube - Revving the 2009 Forester XT w/ SPT Exhaust[/ame] Comfort: I had 4 adults in it today as well, with all of our luggage from our cruise. Four suitcases fit inside it without any issue, and the two overweight adults in the back were very comfortable, and praised it up and down. The four speed auto is geared very well. Yes, it can use a gear or two more, but I don't miss it. Believe it or not, I never find it in a dead spot. It always seems to be exactly where it needs to be in. I have already driven a few times through Manhattan with my new '09 Forester, and also driven on some dirt/gravel roads as well. I find it a very comfortable vehicle on all road conditions (haven't driven in snow yet). My last Subaru ('05 Legacy GT) was downright abusive on roads with tons of potholes. Well, it was too harsh on anything but freshly paved roads. This new Forester absorbs bumps and potholes with ease, and is a pleasure to drive on roads that turned the Legacy into an abusive penalty box. Any changes I'd like to see added from Subaru? I'd like to see Subaru offer the SPT exhaust as an option for the Forester XT. The fitment of the '08 WRX (4-door) SPT exhaust is perfect, and is a direct bolt-on. Other than that, I am happy with everything else with my new Forester. It erased 4 lackluster years of my 2005 Legacy GT. Overall, I am extremely pleased with it. When I was waiting for my '09 Forester XT, I had often wondered if I was making a huge step down. Now that I have it, I feel like I made a huge step up. SLegacy99
Sure, our Subaru Forester 2.5XT contender posted the best observed fuel-economy numbers (16.0 mpg) for an all-wheel-drive SUV in this year's competition, but that's not the whole story. 16 MPG was the best? We have such a long way to go toward being fuel efficieny. That is terrible. http://www.motortrend.com/oftheyear/suv/112_0812_2009_subaru_forester_suv_of_the_year/index.html

I would seriously consider buying one if it was available. Unfortunately, not having an auto tranny would be one more reason why Subaru won't bring it to the US... too limited a customer base. Sponge
What has the Forester crowd done with them? Any modding yet or are they rejecting it because its not an Impreza with a different body? My vB Gallery
godwhomismike
What has the Forester crowd done with them? Any modding yet or are they rejecting it because its not an Impreza with a different body? The '09 FXT is basically a 2008 WRX sedan with a different body. Anything for the '08 WRX should technically bolt right on. The SPT exhaust for the '08 WRX sedan fits perfectly on the 2009 FXT, which is what I did. Can beat a $333 cat-back exhaust, especially on a vehicle where the stock cat-back was very restrictive and had a small diameter.

SBT
^$333...and the LGT's is a grand. Now that's not right. More likely dealer cost to help with the "sale", but it could just be that cheap considering what I'm hearing about some of the LGT SPT exhausts in stock. Mike - nice Fory. Black or white would be my color preference, leaning more toward black with a set of these wheels. http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/wm.php/images/con151carpic.jpg - Pro amore Dei et patriam et populum -

I'd love to find a set of 17x8s and do 245/50/17 tires, or 18x8 with 245/45/18. .

Im thinking of finding a excellent condition 2004 Forrester 2.5XT and turn it into a Forrester STi. Think this would be fun? I really like the last model year Forrester over the new model. http://cdn-www.rsportscars.com/images/subaru/2005-jdm-subaru-forester-sti/forestersti05.jpg

fishbone
Hey, newbie questions ... where are those blue underbody lights coming from? Is that a stock thing? Door-mounted lights? Can't tell if the doors are ajar or not. CAN YOU DRIVE WITH THEM ON? That'd be awesome, you'd be the envy of every ricer out there.
SubieDriver
Puddle Lights FTW! My Tribeca has them. They're pretty cool. They're LED lights on the bottom of the rocker panel that come on when you either unlock (via remote) or open the doors, and fade out after you close or lock them.
