honestly... thats more expensive than the XTS ones which are bigger than the ATS ones i'm waiting on to arrive. I got mine for $80 a side so the price of the ATS ones cannot be beat. now that these are becoming more popular rock auto has them for more like 110+. but if you got lucky and bought that other guy setup for less than 600 thats a steal!

Ok! Game on. Calipers arrived a few days ago. I was off island. Sorry for the horrible photos [emoji23]

for clarity... these are the XTS calipers vs the ATS calipers since i have both in my possession at the moment before i send the wrong ones back LOL

Seriously people, figure out how to make these to fit inside stock 17's.

"They don't fit" is not an acceptable answer.

Carry on.

Did you see my reasons why it doesn't fit? I think unless you've got a lathe and can shave the inner barrel evenly and put a spacer then it could possibly work but wheel integrity would be compromised. I'll put them on tonight and see and show why it won't work again

Mmmm.... still not quite what I'm looking for. You're getting close though :p

Trying to prove something wrong can sometimes lead to the exact opposite.

I'm just trying to provide a steady drip of "try it again" so that someone gets curious enough to try something new.

Mostly you can ignore me though, I don't want to provoke you into an Internet argument.

LOL! it's been a little while but i believe the STI rotors have about 1" space between the inner barrel and the rotor when the stock wheels are mounted.

just to clarify which calipers should be ordered and are you using the ctsv brake swap adapters with them?

READ EVERYTHING and look at the pictures well BEFORE asking questions

So the new ATS calipers are installed. They are similarly sized like our STI brembos. Unlike the XTS calipers I had earlier where you needed to load them from the inside before mounting them onto the bracket and rotor, the ATS (correct ones) can be loaded from the outside like STI brembos.

It sits closer to the center of the rotor as expected and has a lot more contact patch. The line on the rotor is from the XTS calipers sitting too far away from the center of the rotor causing the pad to over hang about 1 inch or so.

There is some (very little) over hang still with the correct calipers but it's very very little. I have confirmed with the manufacture of the bracket adapters required for this that this is how it's supposed to be. I sent them these pictures earlier today. We get about 99% pad usage.

Now... For the fitment of the different wheels

I had available.

First up, USDM STI 17" +42 SPARE TIRE

Image1462678782.892194.jpg.5221ec57e369bef0760f209ee6857efc.jpg

As you can see it physically mounts up... BUT it makes direct contact with the inner barrel. The problem I mentioned earlier. You CANNOT use these even with a spacer!

Image1462679013.476368.jpg.320427f971a1d02a77381a9f1b3cb4a3.jpg

Next up, OEM USDM Legacy GT 17x7 wheels. I think these are +53

Image1462679247.020664.jpg.b1044cf2b5a11e268f6497298324abfe.jpg

This is WITH a 5mm spacer just to get it to clear the caliper housing. There is about 3 threads on the lug nut holding it on.

Image1462679058.787120.jpg.420bbd3e535746cd8e85d13a64f3eea8.jpg

Notice the scratches. That's from it colliding with the caliper when I tightened up the wheel.

It makes direct contact with the caliper as well similar to that of the STI spare.

Image1462679079.878858.jpg.5f42234de76c78622487ff2135aa0698.jpg

As you can see it physically mounts up with a spacer... BUT it makes direct contact with the inner barrel as mentioned before. The problem I mentioned before. Further, if you notice the sticky weights it'll collide with the caliper if it weren't already making contact with the inner barrel

So unless you plan to compromise wheel integrity by shaving the inner barrel of the wheel OR shaving down the caliper housing it will NOT I repeat NOT fit under stock 17" wheels.

BUT it CAN fit under other 17" wheels that have a larger inner barrel.

I didn't get a chance to fit my friends prodrive wheels on today. I'll try and get to that ASAP.

The feeling of these calipers are a lot better than stock in my opinion. I'm running OEM rears right now. Bleeding these are pretty easy and as long as you follow the FSM (factory service manual) for the procedure you should be fine. Remember do outer then inner for the additional bleeder valve from 4 piston setup. Similar to STI brembos.

I'm pretty sure you could just fit the 17s anyway and let the rim and caliper sort out their differences, then hit em with a little paint[emoji12]
I put something here like all the cool people, except there's nothing cool to put here.

These can be fitted with 2011-2014 wrx wheels.

From the nasioc thread:

"On that note. I managed to get them to fit under 2011 wrx wheels which are 17x8 53 offset. "NOTE:SHAVED DOWN THE CALIPER 3MM ON TOP TO CLEAR BARROW" :D:D:D

I had to remove material 1" wide down the valley of the caliper separation. If you look closely into the barrow you can see markings where I tested the wheel rotation around the caliper. Since the barrow is not true the contact points were not just in the center line."

Very interesting. But frankly I never understood the Brembo craze...don't the stock brakes work just great unless you're running huge sticky rubber or doing track days/autoX? Someone tell me a good reason to do this on a DD:)

I never did either, even tho I have Sgt.Gator's brembos sitting in a box. I ran race rubber on stock calipers with race pads and centric blanks. Had I added ducting, I'd been golden.

On DD, this is pure bling.
