Tehnation
brand spanking new! Ordered it 2 weeks ago..... so now I have 2 pumps, 1st one is probably fine, cause the new pump is doing the same exact thing. Tried 1 and 2 o rings, same thing. Tehnation
Anyone know what line is what on the top of the pump? I'm going to try pushing air through the fuel lines, maybe there is a clog. I doubt it but at this point I don't know. Ordered a new sti fpr and a used fpcm. The title in my profile says it all.... These symptoms remind me of when my fpr went the 1st time. I hope my tank isn't rusted.... Edited November 4, 2021 by Tehnation
Infosecdad
Have you tried testing the fuel pressure with the vacuum line removed from the FPR? That should be around 42-43 psi without the vacuum reference line. Also sure that the 3 lines in the engine bay are feeding back to the right places? (I've crossed a couple before) Edited November 4, 2021 by Infosecdad
Tehnation
It started again, and I just checked the pressure without the vacuum line and it was exactly 43 psi, right between 42 and 44 psi marks. Its spot on. It does what its supposed to when it starts, it just suddenly dies, and I can't figure out why its dying. Still waiting for this junkyard to pull the ecu to check the part number, I want the latest model ecu that works for my car. I am now looking at the fpr, my car seems to eat these things. Infosecdad
Does it suddenly die with the vacuum line removed? Can you log the fuel pressure as it starts to have issues and also the fuel pump duty cycle? Should be 33%, 66%, or 110%
Tehnation
Let me see if it can start, probably didn't cool off long enough, otherwise 1st thing tomorrow morning.
Tehnation
Yea, started for like 10 seconds, didn't get enough time to setup the cobb before it died. But when I crank it, the duty cycle goes to 100%. I think its my fpr, I hit and that actually got it to start for 10 seconds. And the starting pressure was around 30. I think my fpr isn't holding pressure and letting go. It dies with or without the vacuum line, whether you pull it while running or not, it runs until whatever is malfunctioning malfunctions regardless of the vacuum line. Fuel filter? rhino6303
Stock fpr? If not, you might install one to see if that makes a difference.
Tehnation
I have an sti fpr, did this mod, no idea where the original one went, its around somewhere. https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/install-04-07-sti-fuel-pressure-regulator-fpr-and-use-263825.html Lines are where they should be, I don't think it would even start if that were the case lol. Tehnation
I'm gonna have sooooo many spare parts at the end of this little adventure lol! Don't think I can wait for the fpr, so I will be hunting for another one at a stealership, I have about 4 within a 30 minutes proximity of my home, I need this ride to end like now! Tehnation
Maybe I might need an aftermarket fpr?
whitexc
What's the scoop ? Are you up and running yet? Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk
Tehnation
Negative, waiting on the fpr, should be here tomorrow. Going to blow out the lines with air later today. Also ordered a used ecu today for $65 shipped!
Tehnation
Hopefully the fpr comes in today, might come in tomorrow. So I am thinking due to my modified fuel rail, I took a top feed fuel rail and converted my fuel rail. In the process I removed all the dampers and regulators on the line. Normally you have some surge things or whatever on rails. So all the surges and turbulence goes straight to the fpr on my setup, theres nothing to smooth out the flow. I'm guessing my fpr's have been dying because of my setup because its taking the brunt force of all the irregularities. So if it is my fpr, I will immediately order a better fpr. This guy, DeatschWerks DWR1000 Titanium https://deatschwerks.com/collections/fuel-pressure-regulators/products/6-1000-frt Edit: They have a DWR1000 black and titanium, they are actually different parts and not just colors I realized, the black has dual 8AN inlets and 6AN outlet, while the titanium has dual 6AN inlets and a 6AN outlet!! Tehnation
In the meantime, I soldered on some jumpers, connected everything, setup all the drivers and installed python 2.7. It seems to be functioning like it should, just need the ecu to get things going and to see if this random clip I bought works.
awfulwaffle
Try reading off your old ECU. The hex file that saves out should have your VIN in it if it worked right. Remember that the board's coated, I use a toothbrush and acetone to clean up the eeprom contacts.
Tehnation
Going to wait until I figure out if the fpr is the culprit or not, should be here today. Don't want to pull the ecu, then put it back to start the car etc. I wanted to pull it earlier, but why do twice the work, i'm lazy
Tehnation
Pretty sure its my fpr, when its good it holds pressure to above 30psi when primed, then right after that it starts dropping to the point where it won't hold any pressure in the line. So I ordered this stuff, its amazon prime, worst case just send it back! Should be here tomorrow. DW DWR1000 Black https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079NZBK6Q 8AN ORB to 6AN Flare https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072JZXK3R 6AN to 5/16 Barb https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08GK719ST 6AN ORB to 6AN Flare https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078Z4CV2J 6AN to 5/16 Barb 90 degree, cause the outlet is on the bottom of the fpr so this will align it better. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CYZ3LNH
Tehnation
Swing and a miss! My fuel pressure is much better now, always above 30 psi with the new sti fpr. But same thing, it started ran for like 5-10 minutes, then I shut it off, walked away came back and now it wont start..... back to the drawing board. Going to pull injectors tomorrow, might be sticking and dumping fuel into a cylinder. Edited November 11, 2021 by Tehnation
Tehnation
That little vacuum thing behind the alternator which connects to the evap and the vacuum line behind the intake manifold. Is that supposed to make noise? I heard a slight noise coming from it when it cant start after cranking. These cars don't get vapor lock do they? Hmmm... my oil smells like gas?!? To much idling or maybe an injector is dumping fuel. Would a stuck injector cause the car not to start? Tehnation
Which cylinder fires 1st? Took out the driver side injectors saw this on cylinder one.
Tehnation
Crank position sensor? A Relay? I'll log tomorrow when it starts again. Tehnation
Got the ecus cloned.....I think lol, going to wait until the new relay comes in. No stealership seems to stock it so I ordered one online.
Infosecdad
You should be able to tell if you can read the VIN off the security chip on the new ECU. If you can do that, it should be good to go
Tehnation
Yea, I used some program HxD or something, and it just shows a bunch of jibberish, but I did see my vin 3 times somewhere so I assumed it worked.
