So I just got it installed. It made a huge difference. I have the sti shifter and was at about 4" between gears before. Now it is 3" or maybe a bit less even. I installed the bushing along with this as well so I cannot give a definite answer as far as whether the lighter weight of the new unit makes a difference in shifting smoothness. Someone else should chime in on that after their install. Overall I love it. Shifting is nice and smooth and crazy short. Install was super easy and the supplied instructions were spot on. This mod is well worth doing. Here are some pics. The instructions have better pics though.

mine came yesterday... funny, pulled it out of the box and stuck it in my pocket before going into the house. Really didn't feel up to having the "you bought ANOTHER thing for that car?!?!?!?" discussion with the wife. Which generally I come back with "you bought ANOTHER thing for your face!?!?!?"....oh, well, thats how you keep love in the relationship after 20 years together. hahaha

In case you get caught with it, tell her I got one too? but then our wives can never meet... ever lol

Mine doesn't say much about me buying car parts as long as I let her get things she wants too. It's a fairness game in our house and it works out pretty well. Right now she is super happy to have her new truck, so I'm sort of in the clear for a little bit longer...I should make an order with Perrin...

Luckily, I thought ahead before I purchased the car and mentioned to her that since it's my first manual, I would probably have to replace the clutch around the 40k mark or so. So half of that battle has been taken care of, before it happens.

My wife had been driving my car for a month while I have been recovering for a torn Achilles and she kept complaining that when she shifted she kept hitting her elbow. So when this came out she told me to buy it.
