Notice how the superheated air around that pyroclastic plume is melting-back the cloud cover.

I was really hoping to see magnets behind the wall. :)

But "coefficient of friction" only matters if there's a force pushing the tire into the surface. The biker gets that by being launched into the wall at an angle, and using his legs to spread the impact force over time. The car was on the wall far too long for that approach to work, and the wall was tangent to the ramp to begin with.

Heritage flight. I saw one at a tiny little air show with an F-16 and a P-51. You could hear the jet on the other side of the trees, and all of a sudden it was right over you. Kind of freaky how the sounds resonated around the valley.

That video is so fake it surprises me how many people think it might be real.

Worse, some liquored-up redneck will figure if someone can do it in a little "import", then they certainly can do it in their testosterone-infused lifted truck. Might cull the gene-pool a bit, but I'd hate to clean-up the mess.

I was going to comment on how the P51's max speed was probably at or below the stall speed of the F16, but then I read that it can easily go over 400mph  Yikes! In that thing!

Well - I'd rather do that speed in a P-51 than in a lot of other stuff. It's actually a pretty capable bird.

More interesting is that it has about the same top speed and maximum altitude as the A-10, but the similarity ends there.

Love the Blackbird. But the SR-71 would have a really hard time flying stably at that speed, and if it could, the amount of fuel required for that flight - given how much fuel it leaks at sub-sonic speeds - would be incredible. There's a reason they refuel them almost immediately after launch ;)
