jj808 Posted October 11, 2014 Share Posted October 11, 2014 You ever worked the flightdeck of a carrier? Those guys are as safe as they can be and still be there to do their job. Risk? Yes. Unnecessary risk? Not even a little. Was on a carrier for 4 yrs and never had an incident on the flight deck. Never and we did a shit ton of landings, takeoffs and other operations. The ones you see always standing around watching are the Safety Observers. No grab assing or ******* around up there especially during active flight deck operations! The predator gets lots of attention, but it's by no means the only thing out there. For combat they make a lot of sense - why risk a live pilot when you don't have to? True, but most countries do not have carrier-capable drones.
