Dafuq did I just watch?

That's pretty much what I said. I think that's the point. Maybe.

That is totally Don Hertzfeldt's work. The animation, the voice acting, the general absurdity of it all. This is his best-known piece, which you should definitely watch if you haven't seen it before:

(contrary to the uploader's title, it was only nominated for the Oscar, it didn't win)

^ and ^^ Until you've actually seen these in person, you have no concept of how awe-inspiring the firings and launches are. When New Jersey came out of mothballs we got to witness her first broadside firing of her 16" 50s. There is nothing that I've ever seen that can compare. Truly awesome.

I fired 155mm Howitzers in the Corps and knew the Navy fired 8inch guns, but did not know there was such thing as a 16 inch gun!

I was part of the crew that refurbished the USS Missouri so it could become a museum in Hawaii. There were retired shipmates there that served on either her (Gulf War) or other BBs. When she fired a broadside like that the ship would move sideways in the water. 9 of those monsters firing at the same time launching 2000 lb shells. OMG!!!

Look at the water deformation from the compression wave. That's at least 600' out and away from the ship.

And KRB, they were obsolete when they were launched, but when Reagan brought them back in the 80's, they were back-fitted with some amazing upgrades. At the time, they were recommissioned to go head-to-head with everything "big" the Russian Navy had in their fleet and at a stand-off-shoot-knock-out distance that surpassed anything at the time. Those 16" rounds can weigh up to 2700 pounds, travel at 2600 fps, and with a range of 24 miles, could impact within a 50' radius of the target. Ask the fighters in Lebanon how it felt when New Jersey pounded the daylights out of their entrenchments following the Marine Barracks Beirut bombing in 1983.

Between the big guns, and the upgraded missiles and electronics, these Iowa Class BBs were in a league of their own. Their downfall, 3x the cost to O&M of any surface ship, except the carriers.

I know the history of such ships being a history geek. I'm don't think the cost of refurbishing the BBs was worth it, but they were/are impressive ships. I bet half the reason for bringing them back into service was just to wave our dicks at the Soviets. "Look what we have!"

KRB - this seems like it might be more up your alley.

Just wish they'd engineered a way to better put that powah to the ground.

Me no like. That rollbar would ruin the handling of the kart. The chassis relies on the chassis flexing to allow the inside rear tire to lift off the ground so the kart can turn and not understeer.

That, and I've tried a 55 hp 125cc kart. More than enough hp for this old man.

That is a lot of power for 125cc. The powerband must be the peakiest thing ever.

Race motor. And it was a waste at my home track becz all the turns were so tight and we had a short straight. My 100cc 23 hp kart got to 63 mph. The shifter was only 6-8 mph faster. But on a faster track, the owner told me that thing ripped.
