thisisthenewsic
update! machine work should be done on my motor, waiting on the rods to get sent back from manley from being inspected/reconditioned. hopefully will get those back within 2 weeks. once i receive those back. i can send out all my internals to get wpc treated. got a sponsorship through wpc treatment, to do the treatment to all my internals. if you have never heard of wpc treatment, check it out! http://www.wpctreatment.com check out these videos for examples of what this process can do. can be done on cranks/bearings ect without changing any tolerances of them, as its not a coating, its just changing the surface finish/hardness of the piece
thisisthenewsic
sorry for not updating this, but this process has been moving very slow. trying to deal with work and school plus running and doing other stuff for the car, and getting pre approved for a mortgage loan, its been a busy stressful last 2 months. hope to have my motor back from being assembled this weekend. should have motor back in and running by next weekend i hope. then from there. back to dyno break in and finish the 91 tune. also start on the e85 tune to see what she can do. after that. getting my suspension setup. and hopefully get out to the track the beginning of the year. then around tax return season. have my wing and front splitter made. we shall see. thisisthenewsic
wpc pictures. this process is amazing. the finished product i am more than ecstatic to see how much this helps the response of the motor due to less drag on the rotating assembly. oil pump gears and housing. http://i669.photobucket.com/albums/vv57/codynicot/20141009_163816_resized_zps79df76e8.jpg http://i669.photobucket.com/albums/vv57/codynicot/20141009_163809_resized_zpsca6128d6.jpg my valve buckets after wpc. nicely packaged. http://i669.photobucket.com/albums/vv57/codynicot/20141009_153116_resized_zps20ac0b44.jpg crank. did the wpc process plus a hardening/strengthening process. http://i669.photobucket.com/albums/vv57/codynicot/20141009_153034_resized_zpsa7931371.jpg cams nicely packaged after the process http://i669.photobucket.com/albums/vv57/codynicot/20141009_152533_resized_zps895cb924.jpg http://i669.photobucket.com/albums/vv57/codynicot/20141009_152606_resized_zps251a74f1.jpg pistons and wrist pins http://i669.photobucket.com/albums/vv57/codynicot/20141009_152851_resized_zpsc64a5473.jpg http://i669.photobucket.com/albums/vv57/codynicot/20141009_152936_resized_zpsc2c193d3.jpg http://i669.photobucket.com/albums/vv57/codynicot/20141009_152844_resized_zps61c04ccb.jpg cams boxed up after wpc treatment http://i669.photobucket.com/albums/vv57/codynicot/20141009_152459_resized_zpsb9128823.jpg i want to thank wpc for the amazing opportunity to try their process and sponsorship with my motor. thisisthenewsic
Cannot wait to see this thing on the road again, Ill have to come up to Murrieta again to see it. any time^^ what is this witch craft ... http://www.wpctreatment.com here is their website. and here is a link to the explanation of the process. http://www.wpctreatment.com/about.htm this process is crazy. the surface finish is so smooth. a buddy of mine assembled a motor with this process done. with crank installed and block torqued(no rods/pistons) he could spin the crank freely multiple times with a good twist. it cuts down on drag and friction between the two metals tremendously. you can do it on bearings too! it does not damage them. also i have read about a guy who ran his sr20 on low oil pressure a whole track day. they disassembled the motor to see that the bearings were perfectly fine with no spun bearings or abnormal wear. i had my cams, buckets, oil pump, crank, bearings, pistons, wrist pins, and rings done. this process puts microscopic indents in the surface finish which helps to retain oil on the surface of the metal. thisisthenewsic
wish I knew about that when I built my motor...can you comment on the cost ? crank 160$ wpc. 240$ with hardening process. oil pump gears 30$ housing 40$ camshafts 40 each buckets 8$ each pistons 50$ each wrist pins 5$ each rod bearings 32$ set main bearings 54$ set rings 20$ each set (80$ total) they can treat any engine internal. bearings pistons valves ect. also does transmission gears, differentials ect. obviously i did everything in the bottom end, along with cams and buckets because of my sponsorship through wpc treatment. everything listed adds up to over 1000$, but ill all honesty. i would do at least the crank and bearings and oil pump for sure. those are the essentials in my eyes. everything else is also a plus. Rester5350
Damn... How do I get them to sponsor my beast?
thisisthenewsic
lol. well any sponsorship you gotta sell yourself. gotta explain to the company what you plan to do to bring them business and what you plan to do to make the sponsorship worth while. most people think that they should get sponsored for some reason or another expecting nothing in return to the sponsor. sponsorships are not free. they give you 500$ and expect 0-500$ in return. they hope to generate business multiple times over what they dished out. the owner is a super nice guy. glad i can spread the word of such a great company. So, if I ever need a new engine, can I buy an EJ255/257 shortblock, ship it to them, pay them some $$ and get it back a few weeks later?
thisisthenewsic
wpc only does the process. they do not do assemble or disassembly. you can buy a ej255/7 block and have it disassembled and parts shipped to them. but disassembling the motor, and pulling the bearings out can be a task to not damage or leave any marks on the bearings. best solution to this is. just buy a used shortblock or buy just the case halves. and buy parts separate. or buy a new shortblock but purchase new bearings to get wpc treated. once everything is treated. pay to have the block reassembled. turn around on wpc treatment is only 3 days too! super quick turn around. (once they receive parts of course, it does not include shipping to or from.) they can also do the wpc treatment on cylinder walls if someone wants to get extreme. i didn't take it that far. hobo2701
Nice congrats. What's the shop called? It's called Vlmspec he's a Audi master tech but does anything from open source tuning, custom metal fab, motor builds or anything else u can think of. We are planning on getting a dyno and a larger facility next year if all goes well. He also works on Porsche and ferraris so I'm pretty pumped. Just need more space currently have too many projects and not enough space.
