  1. Been meaning to update the thread with the new shoes I got for the wagon two weeks ago. I purchased a set of RPF1s (yes, two are silver, and two are gunmetal). I purchased the last two gunmetal in the dimensions I desired and I now need to figure out how I'm going to get the silver ones to match. Until then, I will be gathering thoughts and opinions on which color the community likes better on the car. I've already made up my mind, but I'm still curious. 18x8 +35 all around wrapped in 235/40/18 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S The car already felt like it was on rails with the Dunlop Signature HPs mounted to OEM wheels, but this new wheel/tire combo exceeds that! The new setup left more wheel gap then the OEM wheels and tires did, so I ended up lowering the car a little more. The rear coilovers are close to the maximum lowering capacity. The fronts have another inch worth of threads.
  2. Yikes! These cars eat a little oil naturally, but a quart+ in a month, something is obviously wrong. Check under the car and make sure there aren't any leaks, even a slowly leak shouldn't drain more than a quart, ask me how I know (minor head gasket problems). How many miles? Is it a GT or N/A?
  3. She's coming along, surely. Progress is always fun to make. Keep it coming!
  4. I would reallyyyy like to own a rotary too. But I'll save that for the FD I get one day. I asked for a torch. They didn't seem to have one. I soaked it in PB blaster, but I'll just use more next time I'm under there. And this place only had 12pt sockets. WACK! So I used my own tools for the most part. I was so fed up yesterday morning. I will attempt your methods of madness next time. Thank you. I tried cleaning it and I replaced it a long time ago. I'll check the connectors on the harness. I appreciate the offer! But I will let you keep your maf. Headed out to do some more diagnosing.
  5. Welp, starting my Saturday off at 7:15am I decided to head to the shop and try to knock out a laundry list of things, including: - disable DRLs - bushings (in the rear at a minimum) - LGT UCAs - oil change/air filter - cabin air filter - adjusting coilovers - wash, wax, vacuum - align I got started on the list at 8am beginning with bushings, which totally kicked my rear. This shop lacked a bunch of necessary tools needed to assist, including basic press accessories. Absolute PITA. After wasting a couple hours taking off/on, and pressing, I ended up just doing the toe arms. I'll revisit the others another day. I couldn't loosen the most inward bolt for the OB UCAs without stripping it. Frustrating. I walked out of the shop having just changed my oil, installing poly bushings on the toe arms, and lowering the car another inch, to take out some atrocious wheel gap. I ended up discovering 2 new codes to my already existing PO171. It's always something. I'm all ears. Finally threw in the towel early afternoon, and went to go pick up a car I've been looking for the last 7yrs. I, too, came home with another car today. It is a 1986 Mazda FC RX-7. A Series 5 would have been ideal, but this one will do just perfect. I took an 1.5hr trip, and picked up this....non-rolling shell (it was quite the night, let me tell you)... for $400. I will be working over the next [insert appropriate time here] to put an LS3 in this bad Larry. I only want to do heads/cams for I want to enjoy the car on the weekends and take it the occasional track-day. This is a massive undertaking, and I fully anticipate hundreds of long, frustrating hours.
  6. Facts! 27 is HUGE:spin: And to clarify, you are stating all sedan RSBs are not compatible with wagons RSBs, correct?
  7. Thank you for your input, it is much appreciated. All is heavily considered when my babies are on the line. I'd hate to make a simple mistake. How did you go about painting/coating your SSRs?
  8. Next question would be, are the 3.0Rs different from the GT/XTs, BL/BPs?
  9. Meanwhile, I'm headed to pick up an '86 FC RX-7 shell Saturday evening for a future LS swap. I might have to slow down on the wagon, myself.
  10. Tacompton It was all with in about a week of each other. Two days, and the third it snowed heavy for 20mins - so I guess two and a half. I take for granted the clear, cloudless skies down south. This week has been absolutely beautiful up here. And Monday was my first day seeing a cloudless sky up here since I've been here. I wanna say it was about the 10th time I've seen the sun. Hmmm. I'll need to look into it way more before I decide how and who is going to powder coat them. Thanks for the heads up.
  11. Ooh! Always excited for build thread updates. I get excited for everyone's BP/BL build threads. I should be updating mine soon enough.
  12. My best friend gifted me some Hella Sharptones for Christmas. I bought some years ago, but gave them to him for Christmas because there was a transmission cooling line, or some sort of line, in the way of where the mounting bracket would go (3.0R). TLDR I might drop them off with the wheels to get powder coated in gunmetal.
  13. I ended up getting one too a while back. I never bothered to fix the my gap, but maybe I will some day with foam or something else. I really wanted to paint mine the factory grille grayish color with the flakes. I just really liked that color on the factory grill. The closest thing to that color is Onyx Gray Metallic, and it is pretty spot on. One of the FOZ guys did this to their XT, and it came out fantastic. Ultimately, the black grew on me, and ended up fitting well with the theme.
  14. I've only been up here since Thanksgiving, so and in that time it has snowed 3x. So far I've heard everything Boxita has said, he is a native after all. If I drive my car any more than 10 miles, it is because I wanted to. Everything I need is within 10 miles of my residence, so on the off chance we do have a snow day, I think I could be safe enough to drive the couple miles to the grocery and back. As for the MPS4S being dedicated summer tires, Boxita nailed it. They grip great in the rain, but even better in the dry. My OEM wheels have fresh Dunlop Signature HPs which lines up in Tire Racks Ultra High Performance All Season category: "Responsive handling, very good on dry and wet roads plus adequate winter traction. Reasonable comfort and tread life." And those jokers handled great in both wet and dry traction scenarios. I am still shocked by the tires abilities for an "all-season" tire. Highly recommended. I bought a set for my 3.0R first.
  15. Bump for a fellow Texan (greatest country in the world)! She's a beaut. GLWS sir!
  16. So I can look forward to questions as such. Whoo hoo. That is pretty hysterical. Yeah, I concur with the F/R look being tacky. Gunmetal on driver's side, because that's what I want to see. Everyone else get's second pick. HAVE FUN WITH THE SILVER LOSERS! They all look good. Gunmetal is the move for the theme I'm going for, however.
  17. Look at you go! That's what we're here for. You're a leg up on most, as they would just shell out the hundreds for convenience, instead of taking the time to learn and do it themselves, while saving those hundreds.
  18. I have searched this thread for every potential key word, with a username, I can think of - without sifting through each page. If you come across the video, please point me in the right direction to it.
  19. My pleasure! That's fair. Good luck to you. I will be curious to see how you progress.
