2009 Legacy GT Limited - Whistle
SoobyDoobyDoo replied to SubieSmacks's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
I should clarify that I did have the dreaded P0021 code…but I would still pull the dp like @KZJonny said to be on the safe side. -
2009 Legacy GT Limited - Whistle
SoobyDoobyDoo replied to SubieSmacks's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
Mine sounded like an ambulance or fire truck siren any time I got on the throttle. Thankfully it didn’t grenade, but a shortly after I felt a complete loss of power, so that was that. If it’s at 165k and original, you’re lucky. I’d park it and get that puppy replaced. Change your oil and check for glitter just to be one the safe side. -
Check out amayama.com-they’ll have the JDM parts and parts numbers. Shipping isn’t bad, either. I was going to order some new bushings for my JDM aluminum arms and have them installed prior to putting them on the car. Amayama also ships international.

Getting around to getting rid of a few things. Finally found this. It’s a 08+ WRX catless up pipe, came out of a AZ car with around 75k on it. I got a Perrin one so this one’s going. $75 shipped CON US. Leather center console lid from JPN auctions, came out of an early spec b (03-06). Some wear marks on inside, too is in nice shape. Sold Pair of oem headlights with broken mounting tabs. Lenses ok, could use clean up. Good for blacking out or guts for HID conversion. Asking $40 shipped (basically just shipping these are kinda large). whiteline kca399 rear control arm upper outer bushing. BNIB. Bag opened up while cleaning today but basically, new, never installed. Sticking with oem bushings. $35 shipped. Also have the following if anyone is interested: BNIB oem kick panels (non-edm) for 05-09s, two sets.

Check your alternator. Same thing happened to the wife last year in her 2006 Tribeca. Dash lit up like a Christmas tree and it quit on her. Thankfully, it was an easy fix. Also keep in mind if your sensors don’t get a specific electrical signal they’ll light up cause they think somethings wrong. I’d start there.

I’d upgrade the endlinks too while you’re back there. Moog are really nice and beefy and have zerk fittings for greasing. They’re way less than most aftermarket endlinks too.

Back From the Dead Rebuild Thread

Yeah…these cars seem cheap next to an M series or Audi, or even built VW (unless you know what you’re doing). I’ve found this car community is pretty amazing…I feel pretty lucky to have found a nice example of one of these cars, but more to be in such good company. At this point, with any turbo Subaru, if I bought one, it’d be to keep it. Def won’t get back what you’ll spend on it, but the smiles per mile will far outweigh any monetary value put on the car. -
Fenrir1 06' Spec B Build TBSTI Replica
SoobyDoobyDoo replied to Fenrir1's topic in Legacy Photos (2005-2009)
X2 congrats on that acquisition! That’s a big one and those wheels are absolute class! That’ll look really good on either the spec b or forrester. -
Subaru Legacy GT 2007 Fuel injectors

@Infosecdad is parting his car out, I’d see if he’s got one. Another place I’d check is 541 motorsports or eBay or marketplace or somewhere else to find a used one you can ohm before I’d buy one from Amazon. That’s like a box of chocolates, you don’t know what you’re going to get… -
Those look awesome! Even better than my Cusco ones lol. Yeah sorry those brackets are needed if you’re swapping to JDM aluminum components. I’m pretty sure spec b ones are a little different but easier to come by. Also if you want the full Cusco treatment on those vauxhall blue is a pretty darn close match.

JDM vs US facelift fenders
SoobyDoobyDoo replied to tenchu's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
Whoops…man that sucks. I get it though, I’ve done that too, learned my lesson the hard way. If you need a part # or vendor, lmk. I’ve got a JDM front bumper I bought off another local member so I’ve been looking for parts, I can send you a link or let you know who’s got them. EU fenders will work as well, they’re the same as JDM but you might be able to get away with lesser shipping. Another option is to contact @Enlight, he runs a freight forwarding company from Japan, he’s got excellent rates. -
JDM vs US facelift fenders
SoobyDoobyDoo replied to tenchu's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
Unfortunately no. The USDM/JDM fenders are slightly different enough they won’t work. Not sure if the details but I know JDM head lights won’t work with usdm front bumper and I’m pretty sure the mud guards on the inside are slightly different too. Thanks, Subaru. id contact the place you bought the front end from and have them send you the correct part. Idk how you mess up sending a pre-facelift fender, when it’s completely different? You have to look close but you can tell the difference between pre and post facelift fenders. -

Had no idea what that was….but that’s cool! Yeah…glad the majority were bought a long time ago. If I tried to do that now…it’d have been sold a long time ago. Thankfully with this car, shipping is what kills me not parts prices. -

I’ve got 20yrs of owning my v8 swapped g-body Buick thats been driven twice (once backing out and once around the block). Life just gets in the way. But I’m like you, I’m too stubborn to let it go, cause one day I’ll be able to drive the snot out of it and not care and know that the last 20yrs of acquiring parts and trying to get it roadworthy will all fade to the smile on my face. Keep at it! If the goal wasn’t worth it, then why would you bother? -
Fenrir1 06' Spec B Build TBSTI Replica
SoobyDoobyDoo replied to Fenrir1's topic in Legacy Photos (2005-2009)
(Gets flame suit on). I think with a plain trunk it’d look good. I dig the second picture at the gas station. With the silver on the rest of the car, it pulls it off nicely. Can’t do that with just any color. -
S402 Clone build

Parts look great! And love the fog lights-I was lucky enough to see @DoctorDaveLGT’s rainbow fogs, they are fantastic! Definitely way more classy than plain old yellows (not that those are bad…no hate here for them, just the rainbows are amazing). -
The time has come to cash out...
SoobyDoobyDoo replied to Richard_Mtl's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
My wife and I just sold her 2006 Subaru B9 Tribeca with 161k miles for $750. Valve cover gaskets needed replaced, head gaskets would be needed soon (slowly seeping), power steering pump was going out, needed struts, bushings…a lot of work, probably to the tune of $5k+. I was in the same boat…I didn’t want to dump that kind of money into it, to risk something else major going wrong with it. Not an 2.5i outback, but a comparable. Sold it to a Subaru h6 mechanic who did a lot of work with h6 outback’s who was going to fix it and give it to his sister in law. Was happy it’d get fixed and live on, car still had a lot of life left in it. Bonne chance! -
Curious to see how this one plays out considering it came from JPN auctions. I see now what the deal is with those…looks like you can rebuild it which is nice but the voltage regulator seems like it’s more than the whole damn thing…Denso is the oem manufacturer isn’t it? Funny story about the car meet I went to. It was 95% wrx’s and STi’s….all I’ll say is, as soon as I opened the door I was greeted by a cloud of vape smoke. I knew then I was very out of place… Still had a good time there were some cool cars. Def a very different crowd though.
