Better than mine held on by a magnet that doesn’t really get used cause I have to move it to use it then move it back every time I shut the fuel door….you find that on thingverse/yeggi/some other STL file site? -

You should stick a Honda badge on the back just to mess with people The clean look certainly does suit it -

HIDs look good! Was driving in the rain while it was dark this morning and I was thinking that’s something I need to do…like the clears too. -

Sounds good! Sometimes I think the single exit is a little louder or has more since there’s only one exhaust point but idk hard to tell. Still has that intoxicating exhaust note…can’t wait for pics of Puget sound either I’m sure there were some views there! -

I think any sort of bushing replacement on a nearly 20 year old car are a huge improvement…just waiting to throw on all the JDM aluminum components at the same time…. -

Yeah there’s a ton of great info on this site. Since they’ve been around a while, just about every issue you could think of has been discussed. Also nice to see what other folks are doing around the world cause the US got the shaft big time when it came to these cars. I’m still discovering parts that were available in other markets that truly elevate and make these cars so cool and before their time when they came out. Now they’re truly an underrated performance car. -

Car looks great! How are the roads in NZ? They’re pretty crappy where I live lol. Think bushings are going to be a necessity in my near future. -

Thanks for sharing- yeah, interest/activity may be waning, but the force is still strong with those who still own them! Always nice to see cars like these being brought back to their former glory or subtly upgraded. Nice list of parts, please keep us updated with progress. Also interesting take on the single exit exhaust, very tastefully done though. Interested if the exhaust note is any different for single vs dual exit? -

That’s a bummer…weird though that it’s too long..unless it’s meant for a JDM legacy? Dunno why it’d be different. Good for you though for making it work. Think mine are STi? Haven’t tried to install them though…one of these days. -

Saw this and was hoping someone would post feedback. Looks like a nice upgrade. Not a bad price, either. -

GD that looks good with those wheels…love the contrast of the DGM with the raw aluminum finish. Love the mirrors, too…you manage to source a set? It’s the small details that really make builds like this stand out. That’s the sedan I’d want…classy, but understated. -

Looks good for modeling it from an image! -
Thanks for the feedback and also the bit about the injectors. I'll stay with stock then-I wasn’t planning on going super crazy but figured maybe something with a little more flow in case I ever wanted to do more in the future. Honestly stock would be fine for what I’d like to do. I figured the ots tune duty cycle would account for the flow but glad I learned something. I was wanting to install a wide band just to keep an eye on things (also planning on installing an oil temp/pressure gauge as well) just for monitoring purposes…but that’s further down the road. Appreciate the feedback about the turbo and what it did for you as well, hopefully at some point I can do a dyno tune with someone close by or an e-tune with one of the tuners on here.

Thanks @KZJonny just looking for a basic upgrade, that’s it. I’ve heard about the improved oiling so that’s a def plus. I’m about 45k on a stock block, will probably keep stock boost levels as well. I’d just like to have funds available for a new short block in case…you never know. But I’ll probably get newer injectors and new fuel pump and the sti controller like you did cause mine are all original (cars got ~91k original miles on it, going on 19 yrs). Would just like to have new items to replace the originals. Thankfully doesn’t really burn any oil…I’ve only had to top it off a handful of times in the three years I’ve owned it. 3k oci too since rebuild. Goal is to ultimately keep it fun and reliable. Whatever power I can get out of it with new injectors and the turbo I’ll be happy with, not looking to make crazy stupid power as it’s my daily. Plus I’ve got an auto, so will be looking to do hexmods valve body upgrade with shift kit…would like to tune the TCU too cause I’ve got paddle shifters and I’d like the shifts to be a little quicker in sport mode.

This is sort of a follow up to Tysparks’ JMP vf52 review, thought I’d just start a new thread rather than thread Jack the other one. I’ve got a spare VF40 core from DRdave a while back and was wanting to give it the JMP treatment, hopefully later in 2024 (we’ll see depending on how funds go). My question is for those who have it, can you give some details if it’s behavior (ie, spool, rom range, etc). Also, how does it respond to ots maps? I’d much rather have a pro tune but I may delay that so I have enough funds for a short block prior to doing that (just to be on the safe side). Just trying to explore options and do some research. Thanks in advance!

Life happens, glad to see you haven’t given up on it. One of my projects is going on two decades…keep at it, one day it’ll get done…at least that’s what I tell myself, after I quit buying parts for my wagon… -

How big is your printer? The front grill is a big piece. I bough honeycomb material from customcargrills.com, they’ll also send you a sample. Most who have done this use weather strip to hide the line between the grill and the outer edge. -

Check the wear on that tire-if they’re more than 1/4 (which is more on the high side) it can cause issues with the awd system. Tire rack can also shave tires so you don’t have to replace all 4 at one time. -

That 4c…very nice! -
Aw man that sucks Dave, sorry to hear that. Appreciate the info on the springs, though, that's good reading. Now I'm curious to know what the failure mode is for both yours and Pleide's struts. I don't think this would deter me from buying konis eventually (I still think they're the best alternative to Bilsteins and coilovers for a strut that's an upgrade from the OEM), really I haven't heard of many issues over the years. I'm just curious how install error would lead to premature shock failure...now my quality engineer side is piqued.

I’d say it’s worth inquiring about cause at this point I’m sure there’s OBXT ppl like yourself who have swapped stuff out so it’s no longer original. Could work…at this point with the age of our cars, $230 for something like this is a pretty good deal. Read a few places where dealer had quoted outrageous replacement cost ($1k +) when (according to these individuals) it’s like a 15 min job, plus cost of the parts.
