  1. I think the Rx-8 Tokyo Roki was the crowd favorite…could be wrong. I think someone had mentioned this was the filter that the car came with from the factory at some point? Don’t quote me on it. Either way looks like a nice one. Now I’m half tempted to buy one and cut it open…I’ve already got an unused blue that I accidentally dropped, so I’d be willing to cut that one open for comparisons sake. @310Z (sorry I got you confused earlier) thanks for mentioning Katzkin, I was trying to remember who it was the other night who made seat covers for our cars. I looked into recovering some 4th gen camaro seats i had with their covers…those looked legit.
  2. Japanparts, Japan auctions…careful, your wallet will hate you. You can find certain things dirt cheap but shipping is killer. @Fenrir1 I think these would look better if you chose to run eye lids. Good choice on leaving the other ones off. I’ve seen some cars where they do look good, it’s just a very specific look…idk, hard to put my finger on it.
  3. Pls don’t cuz rice. Your white wheels actually look really good on your car (even if they are 20/10 wheels…). If you refinished those white and gold painted the OZs you’d have two really nice sets of wheels… @xt2005bonbonYeah…the leather covers generally speaking are. You could probably import a set of recaros for the price to recover the stockers. You might try partsouq or an Eu wrecker…
  4. Thank goodness you had room to get over and nothing happened…and yes, thank goodness too for the acceleration of our cars. Just got the wife a really nice 2020 outback touring. Fantastic car, love all the options it comes with…but the cvt is a joke. It’s like it has to think about going…Really makes me miss her 5AT in the Tribeca, and makes me appreciate my car that much more. I need to, my drivers side seat seam is splitting…I wouldn’t mind getting new foam in mine, too. There’s a place that does sell seat covers for our cars, but I think it’s only full sets, don’t know that you can buy just one cover or section… Edit:looks like you can get them from Amayama…just be careful since they mostly have rhd parts, but don’t know why a cover would be different? Check this out: https://www.amayama.com/en/catalogs/subaru/legacy/4-wagon-right-bp-2006-r-1826/body-and-interior-3/front-seat-3235?page=9 Note: parts ending in “JC” are for black interiors, ivory is “WA”. I’ve also seen these pop up on Japan auctions from time to time…
  5. Don’t know that headers will gain much. Better off with a downpipe and tune, you’ll see definite gains with that. A decent set of headers are 75% of the cost of a downpipe and tune, if not more. Downpipe requires a tune. If the car is stock, it already has uel headers. A nice midpipe with mufflers will give you the rumble, no tune needed for that.
  6. There’s a spot at the back of the block I believe on the passenger side where there’s an Allen bolt that you can use to hook up your oil temp gauge. Oil pressure gauge you can install up front. Under the alternator is the stock oil pressure sensor that comes on at like 4 psi? Basically if it comes on your block is toast, you’re better off installing a programmable oil pressure gauge in that port. Car looks good, nice score on the oem cross bars! I got some myself but need to make a new rubber piece for one of the clamps.
  7. Fitment is spot on! Looks great, good choice! I also like the raw aluminum outer lip, kinda gives it a nice transition.
  8. Sounds like a solid plan either way. Keep us posted and don’t be afraid to share pics!
  9. What are your goals for the car, or what’d you have in mind? May be worth it just to go open source depending on what you’re wanting to do.
  10. I’m just glad you pulled the trigger on this. What a nice car…needs work sure, but still looks clean, and that gen is the best, imho. Truly a drivers’ car. Pls keep us posted with progress, nice to see a clean sti that’s not beat to hell cause the owner didn’t know how to properly take care of it! Also, I need to feed my desire to see a clean sti brough back and live vicariously through you.
  11. Mine also does it on occasion. I keep mine on 3, and it’ll flash “ILL.3”. It’s more annoying than anything, I just scroll through the various brightnesses and it goes away. It’s just the switch. @Ows Curious to see how much nvh the Cusco braces add, if any? Or add any stiffness?
  12. Thanks @SubOperator-kinda my thoughts too. Yes, car went into limp mode. Check engine light was on solid and cruise was flashing. It did idle a little rough this morning and had a little trouble starting but drove fine once warmed up. It’s due for a good MAF cleaning anyway, and I’ve got a new air filter waiting to go in. My thinking it’s just the age of the electrical components, it’s all original.
  13. Another piece of advice if not mentioned already-read through the stickies. There’s a ton of great info, really 99% of everything you’d ever need to know to properly take care of your car and properly modify it, if you choose to do so. However, know this: these cars (and turbo Subarus in general) are not for the faint of heart or wallet! Hondas are great because you can just throw prts on them without a 2nd thought…Subies, not so much. It doesn’t take much to blow a ringland, or do something else that will require a new turbo or short block. Flips side is, they also don’t need much out of the box to make them fun, or fast (faster than a stock Honda with bolt-one, anyway).
  14. Truer words never spoken: it’s all in the prep. I used POR15 on my g-body Buick floorboard and was pretty happy with the results. I also bought the spray cause they were in excellent shape (g-body floorboards tend to rot and rust if the car is left outside cause window seals fail and moisture gets in and under the carpet and well…the rest is history). There a small spot that somehow didn’t get it but I’m not concerned about it. It’s tough as nails now. The LGT gave me the dreaded/annoying P2138 code today (no acc pedal) on my way to work. Been a while since it’s happened…at least several months. I was thankful that was it, and also I was able to finally buy a code reader ($41 at auto zombie…I’ll take that vs $150 or more). Got it home and sprayed contact cleaner on it. Adding a new acc pedal assy to the list of things to start replacing. For those who have had this issue, was there anything else you checked/replaced? I found an old thread about cleaning the MAF sensor but don’t know how the two could be related? Or maybe cleaning the throttle body? If I’m gonna do one thing I’d rather do several to help just keep the car running as well as it can. TIA!
  15. Smart move. I’m sure it’d be a great learning experience, but if you want to just enjoy the car, just be one and done, esp if you don’t have the space/resources for this. That’s a pretty good price too, for the labor involved. Any machining with the head work involved? Keep us posted with progress.
  16. Don’t think that mines that rusty but it’s something I’d want to replace sooner rather than later…also be nice to do with suspension refresh. Rolled over 92k miles, probably hit the big 100 later this year….also finally started working on this thing again. Looking at old pictures looks like I had gutted back in 21…3 years, sheesh. Time flies when you’re trying to work on your LGT….will also be up for sale soon.
  17. Car looks great. Like the stockers painted white with the black, along with the height
  18. Gotta admit, some cool stuff on there. Liked the variety and it’s not often you see Grand National shirts. Been wanting a new subie shirt, I got suckered in…
  19. Yeesh…man there’s little clearance there! +1 on the coating. With the headers as hot as they get they’ll heat up and cook that oil quick….
  20. I think today’s photos are excellent! Good choice, car looks classy.
  21. Not much experience with Killer Bee, but I’d recommend reaching out directly to them and tell know what you’ve got. From what I’ve seen they’ll either help or tell you that their pan won’t fit…but either way you'll get a straight answer, they won’t BS you. Do you have the pan off the engine? Maybe try that?
  22. Hahahaha I think I saw that…I don’t get on there much anymore. Just too much immature bs going on in those groups really, and people just show their asses most of the time lol. At least here if you have nice things people are cool about it, rather than saying why bother, it’ll never be “x”. It doesn’t need to be. Idk, I just don’t get it. Either way, car is well done and I, too, enjoy those interactions you were talking about earlier.
  23. Careful Booze…I tell myself if I ever buy one first thing I’m doing is yanking motor (mostly cause the only thing I could afford is a pos). That’s usually enough to squash that. It always seems like more of a gamble with those…good luck either way! Keep us posted too. Chemical guys make good stuff…I’ve also used 303 on mine (aerospace protectant). No sticky dash yet…(knocks on wood). Think it might be starting though…unsure. I think with tax money a new hvac box and dash are in order. Gonna get the s10 back up and running and gonna daily that for a while so I can fix some things…
  24. Did you csf come with a small rubber adapter? I ditched mine for a denso cause I didn’t like that…denso unit fit perfectly. Curious though if the csf offers any sort of cooling upgrade over stock while being smaller than a koyo. Don’t want to think about what that s402 engine cover cost to bring over…but I will say, it looks great in your engine compartment. It really goes nicely with the color of the car. Not a lot of cars can pull that off like DGM! Well played, sir. Do the guys at the dealership come out and ask you about the car? I get one every now and again that asks about mine when I’m up there…course yours has a whole lot more curious and hard to find bits on it.
