  1. Thanks for the info. I didn’t realize the AVO brackets were no longer available – I suggested these to another member pretty recently (around the end of summer) and he was still able to purchase them, so I guess it must have been pretty recent that these couldn’t be purchased. I bought mine used from another member on here. They were losing the powdercoating so I was going to strip and re-paint them black (don’t want the back bottom of the car looking like a Christmas tree with all the different colors of aftermarket suspension bits). Also want to re-paint the swaybar, other members have commented that the finish on it wasn’t that robust (I’m in IN so I deal with salt). I’m currently running Kuhmo Escta PA51s, they’re a high performance AS. I’ve been pretty happy with them, they’ve done pretty decently in the snow. My car came with Bridgestone Pole Positions, which were amazing, but the ride was pretty firm (a work friend who tracks his BMW said Bridgestones have stiff sidewalls for performance). The Kuhmos give it much more of a touring feel, which is much more compliant for daily driving. I might check out those BFGs when I replace my current set though, seems pretty comparable to the Escta PA51s. My ideal set up would be these plus a set of summer wheels with HP summer tires.
  2. What brand of trailing arm bushings did you use? Weird that those failed so prematurely…
  3. So thought I’d share this with this community since it’s much tighter knit and not so open like traditional social media. I also didn’t want to spread too much since it’s not mine personally but a friend’s, but it’s too cool not to share. He restores/ builds body panels for C1 corvettes and also ZR1s. I’ve been invited to help with some projects to learn fiberglass/bodywork so I’m pretty stoked he offered to show me the ropes. I’ve done some body work, and it’s good enough for fixing a daily, but this is next level and I’m very excited to embark on this journey. He also recently acquired a 67 camaro so I’m excited for him and hope to be a part of that restoration process. I’m hoping I’ll be able to share more in the future as I get more into it. He’s got some pretty incredible cars in his shop right now…
  4. Nice! Thanks for the feedback. Which endlinks are you using? I’ve got a 22mm Whiteline rear sway bar that’s still waiting to go on the car just haven’t had time to get it on. I got Moogs cause they seem way beefier, was planning on doing endlinks and the bar at once. If you’ve got stock brackets might not be a bad idea to upgrade those too. Been reading about endlinks a lot lately…thinking about getting adjustable ones but dunno if I need all that, esp since I got the moogs already. Also got poly sway bar bushings and bought new sway bar bushing holders (?) and AVO sway bar brackets. What tires are you running?
  5. That’s awesome. I’ve got a small stack of old car mags on the garage…dunno what to do with them. I got rid of some over the years but tried to keep the ones that I enjoyed reading the most. Always enjoyed the editorial staff of SCC’s shenanigans in the pursuit of overall car improvement with real world tests and results. Super street was just too flashy for my tastes…
  6. I got to ride in a work friends 2012 Boss Mustang 302 the other day. He’s a 20-something who drives it daily. Fantastic car. It had a rear sway bar installed, felt planted, no body roll in corners, firm but not a harsh ride at all. Little loud but you could still have a conversation in the cabin. Sill prefer my LGT. Not nearly as quick in accelerating but once you get it going it’s fast enough to have fun on the street using most of the powerband. He got around 3-4K rpm then had to back off cause it was so fast. Combining the utility of the wagon plus the aesthetics, it’s a hard car to beat as far as ticking off boxes. It’s hard to imagine they’re not more sought after, since they’re such excellent cars, but also nice after all these years they’re still flying under radar.
  7. Mmmm…triple webers. There’s very few cars that can top that…like Johnny said, only exotics and flat six Porsches (and flat 6 Subarus) at high rpm sound so intoxicating. Thanks for sharing!
  8. Drool…that’s my dream z. Beautiful car! Very well done, thank you for sharing! Love the carbon fiber accents, very well done. Love the wheels too, can’t go wrong with old school mesh wheels. Car is phenomenal.
  9. I was looking for some random parts for my g-body tonight and came across this. My favorite issue, this magazine was the only reason I went to school for my journalism degree (which I don’t even use now lol). My dream was to write for them but by the time i graduated the original editorial staff were gone and the magazine was on its downward descent to being shut down. I just remember thinking they got balls for doing this to a brand new sti, but the article itself was very entertaining nonetheless. I really miss the days of car magazines like this one. Just thought I’d share.
  10. Welcome to the site and what a find that car is super clean! You’re better off posting in the 4th gen technical section for the clutch bleeding question, or “transmission” section for your clutch bleeding question (I’d help but mines an auto). Also, make sure to read the wiki in the 4th gen section, lots of great info in there. With such low miles, check the banjo bolts and remove if they’re still in there, they tend to clog and blow the turbo and usually the engine with it. Keep an eye on your oil levels, too. Also not a bad idea to do a black tone use oil analysis to see what’s going on inside the motor. These aren’t typical cars, they need more tlc and attention generally speaking. If you’re planning on making more power make sure you do your homework. Again, you can’t just throw an intake on these, blow off valve, etc. The maf sensor on these cars is very sensitive and doesn’t like change without a tune. This is a great place for info, lots of long time owners who are willing to help out if needed, but searching is definitely your friend. More than likely if you have a question by now it’s been answered. Lookin forward to see what you do with the car! ps -don’t let that datsun be a stranger. Plenty of love around here for a classic z!
  11. Where’d you get the aluminum arms from? Those are clean!
  12. Holy beefy exhaust flanges Batman! What kind of headers are you running? How was installing the motor mounts? Probably not a bad idea to install since mine are 18 yo originals…
  13. Nah that’s a nice compromise between LGT and OBXT! Sometimes I wish mine were a little higher but I prefer it low. It’s nice to have the height if it’s raining/snowing or if you’re on rough road or having to drive on gravel, but I don’t feel like going back and forth on suspension. Ideal scenario would be an obxt for daily use then a LGT for having fun on the dry summer days…this appears to do both.
  14. Shame you had to back up that grimmspeed rad support plate but I get it…still looks good, like it could have come that way. That’s one reason I didn’t get one so I could still run the snorkel. Glad someone’s helping you out with the tuning, I’d much prefer a dyno tune but seems like any decent shops are coming few and far between, esp for/with AP tunes anymore.
  15. Nice scores! I love it when you find stuff like that for cheap (although shipping from Japan sucks…). Like that grill, need to get mine painted and installed on the car. It’s a nice alternative to the honeycomb, something different.
  16. Same here…few things here and there for aesthetics but still mostly stock. Hopefully soon will get my option grill painted and installed and headlights blacked out. There’s a Subaru meet up at one of the dealerships in Indy in November if you feel up for a drive (Tom Wood).Hopefully DrDaveLGT will also bring his wagon…been a while since I’ve gone but I’d like to go this year if I can. Be cool to have some LGT wagons there!
  17. Dunno if anyone’s made one yet. You might check out Anderson Design & Fabrication, they’re an off-road Forrester/outback vendor.
  18. Your quest for a wagon makes more sense to me now. I thought you just wanted another to have something to occupy yourself with (ie, a fun car). Mines a great daily for me with two little ones…plus it has a good amount of cargo space. I got extremely lucky with that one, and I get it. Sometimes I see other cars that I think are more practical…even moreso than my wagon (and newer and in much less need of attention/repair). Having a nice, reliable daily does make a big difference and helps when you want to have just a fun car.
  19. Truer words have never been spoken….I can attest to that. Seen these on there from time to time. There were some wagon airbag-friendly pieces that were on there a few weeks ago. I got some black upper interior trim pieces last year, had them consolidated and shipped (D’OH! That was a mistake. That one hurt….) then kicked myself cause the “A” and “B” pillars weren’t airbag friendly…so those were a waste. Got the “d” pillars and rear door trim upper pieces at least….If anyone wants them (A&B pillars), PM me (shockingly black upper “c” pillars could be ordered from dealer but now are discontinued ). That wagon is cool as hell! I remember seeing an old Ford wagon with rolls stuff integrated into it at a Mecum auction a few years ago. It was well done, be fun to bring to shows.
  20. Thanks for the info, appreciate the feedback. Also looking at PX-10s 17x8 +45. Both look good on a LGT, I feel like they mimic the oem sti enkeis nicely. Good luck with whatever direction you go in for your next project, keep us posted!
  21. Car looks great, sad to hear it’ll be sold but I get wanting to get something bigger, newer, and try new things. How’s the wheel fitment? Been looking at a set of enkeis like that for a brembo swap eventually and wondered how +45 would fit (if they’d clear the brembos). What size tire you running?
  22. GLWP! That’s incredible…only thing I’d do is add a g-nose front end and drive it….
