  1. Nice! It’s kinda hard to tell from the picture, but is that a single exhaust bumper? Kinda nice to have them at boxer rumble…I’m looking forward to upgrading mine.
  2. I forgot which Ben mentioned it…maybe Lin? I think it was when he was talking about upgrading to the HKS turbo…
  3. I believe a few guys running with the gears and gasoline guys were running s series sti turbos in their STi at gridlife…that’s probably a year or two ago now, but might give you some ideas as to what kind of capability they had.
  4. That’s a thing of beauty…kudos to you too for staying on it and getting the product that was designed for it instead of fabbing something up and hoping it worked!
  5. Sorry are you referring to the coolant or exhaust manifold crossover pipe? Also, solid intake pipe…as in aluminum? Or one of the many silicone ones that are out there (that use something solid as the base)?
  6. This is a good point. Along time ago I was told I had a power steering rack leak…power steering reservoir never really dropped to levels that worried me, so I just let it be. Point is, I was quoted around $1600 I believe? I’d rather invest in a quick Jack and have that tool. That’s just me. I get having a shop do it too though cause it’s hard for me to hm find time to fix the car. But I’d find a way to make that work…then you could also do the wheel bearings and other stuff and have the shop do the timing belt. That’s just me…it’s Ymmv.
  7. Hm…no, no bumps. Could be bearings…just not sure which. I’ll keep a eye on it.
  8. This is all great stuff for me to live vicariously through that rest of you with my LGT….
  9. Bumping for sub. Hopefully won’t need this for a while but all good info from people who have been there. Jaylews goals are similar to mine. interested in #4 cyl mod as well. Only changes 4*? How much does the temp change affect knock, if at all? Or is this mostly in the tune?
  10. Hey all, Random problem, I think? I’ve noticed the last few days an intermittent grinding noise at random times…only lasts a few seconds, like driving on the rumble strip on the highway (without the vibration). It’s not very loud at all…like if the radio was on 4-5 you wouldn’t hear it. Anyone ever experienced anything similar? I’m wondering if it’s a wheel bearing stating to go out…rear two were replaced last year and cars at 91k miles, so I’m wondering if the fronts are starting? Weird part is it’s not consistent. Any thoughts? TIA!
  11. Welcome to the forum! Nice to see another member sharing their car. That’s minty, plus it’s in Cali which is nice. I feel kinda bad for mine…kinda same deal. Bought I mine with 56k mikes on it (05 LGT wagon), AT. Now it sits outside and gets exposed to salt as a daily…plus my kids. Trying to take care of it but in some ways starting to show its age. Hoping to park it the garage this summer and give it a bit of a break. It’s got 91k on it now but at least it’s being driven. Curious how you got the camera to work with I’m guessing is the oem nav system? That’s one thing I’d like to do to mine. Also read your other thread…car is nicely done, like the list of things that’s been done to it! ps-nice to see the the positive feedback on the auction, thanks for sharing the link. Good to see there’s still love for these cars. This was on of my favorites:
  12. Finally got back over there…took a hiatus with the holidays but so far been there last two weekends in a row. I’m hoping to start building some momentum, I know once it starts to warm up again there will be a lot more. Last weekend was pretty uneventful …wiped down the 53 in the foreground of the picture of my last post to get some of the dort off of it. It’s been there so long dirt has gotten into the paint…really could use a good buff and cut. My fear is getting swirls in the paint…so I’m guessing the best course of action would be to do a good wash to remove as much surface dirt as possible, clay bar to get rid of remaining surface dirt, then a good cut and buff? Trying to learn some detailing stuff too. Got the motor pulled today so some holes could be filled and some bodywork could be done on the engine bay and re-sprayed. Been a looooonngggg time since I’ve pulled an engine so it was cool to do that again. Also designing some brackets to be water jetted for the headlights. Here’s a pic of the Camaro. Doesn’t look like much but it’s straight as an arrow, PO welded in all new sheet metal after a wreck and prepped it. It’s just an empty roller but it’ll be an incredible car once it’s done.
  13. Where’d you get the steering wrap from?
  14. What’s that yellow thing on the left? That’d be a sweet background, awesome forrester!
  15. Best bet is to replace the whole thing…or see if someone’s parting a car out. I had to replace on my wife’s 06 Tribeca earlier last summer (edit: not used to 2024 yet). P/n you’ll need to order is 56410AG06F, it’s for a 08, but it fit her car (pretty sure Tribeca is based on the legacy chassis as well). At this point you’ll probably be doing yourself a favor replacing the whole thing…I’m thinking about doing this as well seeing as mines near 20yrs old…05 AT turbo wagon here. ps-nice car list, nice to see some 3.8L turbo love. I’ve got an 85 g-body Regal w/a V8 and trans am wheels (non turbo , but at least it can sit in my driveway without me worrying about it being stolen).
  16. Think I’m gonna invest in a dipstick heater or something like this: https://www.amazon.com/2-Pack-Silicone-Engine-Heater-Self-Adhesive/dp/B098TFF39H Thought about the OEM coolant heater but a buddy pointed out that’s somewhere else leaks could be introduced…
  17. lol I get that. I’m 6’0”, ~220. When we all get in my wagon or if I have company it gets cozy pretty quick…
  18. Keep checking on Japan Auctions or Crooober, they pop up from time to time. Persistence pays off! (Just be prepared for the sticker shock of shipping them…). Thanks for the pics Justin. That spec b bumper just looks incredible. The car is very well done!
  19. Yeah thats weird. I’d have thought that you’d bleed the brakes and replace the fluid as you bleed (making sure your MC doesn’t get depleted)…that’s what I did when I replaced the rear wheel cylinders on my s10. Leave it to Subaru to complicate something simple. Guess that’s why I like them?
  20. Ahhh ok…thanks wasn’t sure. Interested what that does too, if it’s worth it for automatics?
  21. @DoctorDaveLGT that’s smart I get it. I don’t know if mines been replaced or not…still seems ok? That’s something else on my list to buy just in case. That’s great that stuff is getting painted! Maybe we can hook up some time after tax season before May. my pedal is kinda mushy too…but it’s also completely stock, so there’s that. Only good thing about it is I’ve got centric blanks. @xt2005bonbon are you referring to a regular brake job?
  22. This was what I was planning on doing. I found a pair of oem outback headlights on the local FB marketplace for $25 last summer. I thought about HID retrofits since I was planning on opening them but that can be done later, I’ve e got too many other things I’d like to get done first. ps-love your forrester, that car is nicely done!
  23. Congrats! At least you’ve already got a 4-door that acts like a coupe…
  24. Awesome thanks for the info, good to know! @Lone_wolf_subie thy looks really good on your car…love those non-usdm bumpers… esp the JDM spec b style. @DoctorDaveLGT How’s the car coming along? Can’t wait to see this thing in person. The calipers and springs look so good with the white! Plus the trim and cf… @alex0856, would a heat hun help with that perhaps?
  25. +1! I’ve got a spare set of oem headlights I was going to clear, remove haze on, then get some clear film to seal. Did you have trouble aligning them? How’s the cut off? Thought about doing a HID retrofit but after doing some research I didn’t like the idea of retrofitting non-HID lights when I could get a set of real LHD HIDs for about half the price…plus they’re actual HID headlights. Think I might try the LED bulbs and see how that goes first.
