  1. any spec.b 6mt driveshaft will work, along with any 05-09 4eat Legacy / Outback driveshaft.
  2. I got rid of my OBXT driveshaft. Scooby, are you getting an aftermarket driveshaft developed?
  3. Also, I think I have like 35 buckets lying around right now. I need to measure them to see what I have exactly.
  4. Good luck, hopefully you do better than what I think I've done on my own motor
  5. MaxCap, that's correct AFAIK. Simply put: #1 is at TDC (starting combustion) #2 is at TDC (starting intake) #3 is at BDC (starting compression) #4 is at BDC (starting exhaust) Then #3 fires next and everything moves on as appropriate. So... #3 is at TDC (starting combustion) #4 is at TDC (starting intake) #2 is at BDC (starting compression) #1 is at BDC (starting exhaust) #2 is at TDC (starting combustion) #1 is at TDC (starting intake) #4 is at BDC (starting compression) #3 is at BDC (starting exhaust) #4 is at TDC (starting combustion) #3 is at TDC (starting intake) #1 is at BDC (starting compression) #2 is at BDC (starting exhaust)
  6. Byron, here's what I have found. If #1 is at TDC (combustion), then #3 is opposite and sitting at BDC starting it's compression stroke. #2 is at TDC starting intake stroke and #4 is at BDC starting exhaust stroke. Clear as mud? It is for me!
  7. Yeah. I used an impact driver for those screws. Worked great.
  8. Probably between 8 ft/lb (same as water pump) and 15 ft/lb from google-fu. Can't find it in the FSM tho
  9. It's just one bolt right? Looks like FSM says 4.7 ft/lb (6.4 Nm). Page 1716. Don't really see why it would matter though. Just snug it down and you should be good, don't strip it.
  10. Pretty hard to tell in the pics, but did you confirm that those used pistons have the same "dish" or whatever as the other 3 pistons?
  11. Hopefully all is good and the worst part (aside from the time) will be scraping off the fresh RTV.
  12. Plastic parts that run what, $8-10? These are high heat motors, plastic gets brittle. I don't understand not replacing them considering OP has the motor COMPLETELY disassembled. But we all make our decisions, hell I didn't do head gaskets on my motor that came out at 88k miles. Car hasn't even started and I'm pretty sure I'll regret it
  13. Regarding buckets, setting valve clearance, etc. You will get many differing opinions, including bonbon's that the lash needs to be measured with the timing belt installed. Personally, I don't think it's feasible to completely reassemble and install the timing belt (and tension it) just to measure valve clearance. I also spoke with riderdude on here and nasioc who builds some motors, and he said he sets clearances with the heads bolted (and torqued down) to the block but no timing belt installed and has never run into an issue. Good luck with the buckets. If I can help out with swapping some buckets for the sizes you need, hit me up. And YES, you need to mic all of your used buckets. They probably all measure different from what they are marked with at this point.
  14. Sorry, I don't have any stock right now unless you are willing to run a "shorter than spec" front rail. I had a...ummm...measurement error, need to get back to the machine shop for more material. I have plenty of the 4 top/bottom rails.
  15. Have you been using simple green pro (purple) for cleaning, or the normal green stuff? I was told previously that the green stuff can do funky stuff to aluminum.
  16. Dunno. I had some "tarnish?" on my cam caps that didn't come off after cleaning with simple green pro (better for aluminum). All of the "crud" was removed and they were nice and clean, but they seemed "stained" for lack of a better word.
  17. If you're not finding anything "broken," my guess is a valve clearance issue. From my experience, measuring valve clearances as a layman takes some practice and has a bit of a learning curve to it. Even if you think you measured correctly, I'm interested to see how everything looks when you reassemble and remeasure valve lash. You have it torn down now, and regardless of finding a large issue you have the chance to reassemble and make things right.
  18. The amount of time you've spent blaring those Pistons...props for the effort, but damn I would've just pitched em and grabbed a new set from somewhere Hope the FPI shows something solid tho!
  19. Yeah, sold out because I cut some of the short/front rails....too short :/ If anyone is still interested I can supply a kit with a short front rail, probably no functional issue at all.
  20. Surface plate as in a large flat surface? Panes of glass seem to be decent for that sometimes, maybe a scrap of granite / quartz from somewhere?
