  1. I second, third....fourth? the 3.6. I'm only 35 and was tired of working on my home brew turbo a year or two before I sold it 8 months ago.
  2. You're thinking too much. If it sounds fine, it's fine.
  3. If you're having problems after you changed something, I would put it back to how it was.
  4. If you don't have any obviously open holes in your engine, I would suspect it's an extra from a previous project.
  5. Everything I can find says torque spec on those bolts is 140nm, or 103ftlbs. 2007 wrx, sti, and 2021 sti all show 140nm. The 14mm bolts are 70nm, or 51.6ftlbs.
  6. Yeah but honestly, they aren't that hard to pull. NA EJ's are basically on a zipper, and the turbo ones aren't much harder... the na FB's are practically velcro. I can have an FB on a stand in 45 minutes. My coworkers and I are always joking about pulling the motor for simple things just because of how easy it is.
  7. I think there are only 7 banjos? two each for the avcs lines, a banjo in the top of the turbo, and then the two banjo's for the coolant lines.
  8. if you can find a metal one, go for it! A vice is the easiest thing to use. manual says to compress it very slowly, it should be a 3-5 minute process. Don't stick the pin in too far! I've done that and it wont be able to bolt in.
  9. Someone here mentions that there was an error in communication with the BIU. Someone says to disconnect the negative for a certain amount of time, and OP comes back a little later saying that fixed it.
  10. Part of me says that's fiiiiine. Part of me says replace it. But also, how in the world did you nick the cam gear like that while turning it over? Definitely be more diligent if you replace it.
  11. People want race cars but then don't realize all the bad things that come with race cars. I certainly had more fun replacing worn components with OE on my 2001 legacy, vs turning my 2001 impreza in to a race car. I got to drive the legacy a lot more, that's for sure!
  12. Porsche has all sorts of flat fours. Not all sorts... but 2.0 and 2.5L just like subaru
  13. What do Porsche people do with their engines? Basically the same thing right?
  14. Mine is a Legacy so maybe a hair more aerodynamic. I have a 2.1 mile commute and my avg mpg got down to 16, but a 40 mile trip on the freeway got me back up to 20. I do expect the carputer to be off a little bit and will do the math when I fill up
  15. This one has me scratchin my noodle. Have you taken it anywhere to get codes read? Even if the CEL isn't on, there might be some information in a scan.
  16. The spring carries the weight, and the strut (or shock absorber) dampens the load. So it makes sense that the models would share springs, as they're all probably within 100lbs of each other.
  17. How are your tie rods? Depending on how low your car is you can check on the ground. they should not twist easily
  18. That is likely the correct sensor, and the screws look untouched, I've found cleaning will only fix like 1/5 cars.
  19. I just picked up a '17 3.6R, glad to hear you like it! I've noticed on the freeway the carputer shows 30-35mpg, which is just crazy impressive for a big 6! I haven't noticed readability issues with the HVAC display but I haven't owned it over a summer yet.
  20. 'fix in a can' never works, but I suppose it could be worth a try.
  21. If that's the general consensus I would honestly start with the cheapest pair you can find, and work your way up. Pave the way and do the research for the next person with your question!
