What did you do to your Legacy today? [PNW Edition]

It looks like you skip 2 important steps in auto detailing.... polishing and applying paint sealant. Those 2 steps go after clay bar and before waxing.

When I detailed my car last Sat here were the steps:

1. Wash and Dry

2. Clay Bar

3. Wash and Dry

4. Polish with a medium cut

5. Rinse and Dry

6. Very Fine Polish

7. Paint Sealant (2 coats)

8. Wax (2 coats)

All in all, took about 7 hours.

Elephant does all that in 5 minutes. Ok, maybe not the "very fine polish".

Looks awesome! What do you use for your leather treatment? I use meguires, its works well, just wondering if there is something better out there i should know about... ;)

I just used what was down at my shop for the reconditioning, I cleaned the seats before with a mild degreaser, scrubbed them and then reconditioned! Thanks for the kind words, dude!

I don't mind the steering wheel but question the number of air fresheners you have on your mirror.

Like I told boxkita, Ruby's got a bush.

While I love love love the retro wood grain steering wheel, it looks out of place with the rest of the car with all the knobs/buttons/digital displays, etc. But as long as you are good with that, it's perfectly fine.

I plan on adding a few more wood accents maybe. The brushed silver on it matches the interior and the cherry oak is nice with the GRP. Not sure what my definite plans are with the interior. EDIT: Just got done searching the interwebz and found a pretty nice real rosewood trim kit. Hmmmm....

Yes they are.

and yes I do.

Right on, dude.

Maybe add the faux woodgrain accents that some other trim packages came with?

Maybe! Not sure yet!

Okay, maybe I didn't fully detail my car. Outside of Dutch Bros. Coffee, I also am a detailer, so I know the steps, I just started to run out of daylight. I was fully 100% detailed before the Big Northwest Meet though.

While I used to get the Jag detailed, loved the shine. I've never done the wagon. After the first year of autox and the second year of pushing the limit on the track, the front third of the car is beyond the help of a claybar. However, if one of the OCD detailers on here wants to give it try, I'll willing make a deal.

If you ever have the chance to complete the challenge, please disclose what brands of clay bars and polishes you've used to get rid of the DRAMA® in boxkita's wagon!

I have enough drama for now.....

Hahahaha well I know I've got some good cuts, polishes, bars, acids, and acids to battle the DRAMA on his car, but not sure what kind of DRAMA goes on IN his car hahahaha!

  • 4 weeks later...

Replaced the passenger side VC gasket... what a PITA! :spin:

Also replaced the spark plugs while I'm at it...

Same with the top radiator hose...

Then noticed some coolant is leaking from the turbo coolant hose from the top, what can cause that? The hoses are still in great condition and the clip is on there snug. I do notice this turbo runs hotter than my VF40, so not sure if that is the reason why?

I only used 2 cans on my wheels, should probably do 1 more can on them just for an easy peel later... The scoop was about a half of a can, maybe 5 light coats

IMO I'd buy 5 cans. One for each wheel and then use the other one for the grill, scoop and other touch-ups

exactly what i did after work today, scoop done, grill still needs some bondo before dipping and rims this weekend probably, pics to come :iam:
