DickDastardly00
A report over on Edge tonight has it that Sony’s February 20th “See The Future” event will indeed spawn the very first PlayStation 4 information. In addition, Edge has it from individuals working close to the new hardware that the console will release in North America and Japan this year, with European’s having to wait until 2014. But there’s more. The new console will allow users to record and save 15 minutes of gameplay with a “Share” face button on the revised PS4 controller allowing the user to instantly upload the footage online. As for redesigned controller, it is the same size as the current DualShock, but features a small touchpad in place of the existing Select, Start and PS buttons with tech based on PlayStation Vita’s rear touchpad. It will also feature the aforementioned “Share” button. European distribution awkwardness means the console won’t see the light of day over here until early 2014. The U.S and Japan will get it before Christmas this year. A new updated version of the PlayStation Eye will be available from launch and will remain compatible with PlayStation Move. As regards the machine itself, developers are apparently quite pleased with it and how accessible it is. Sony has learned from its PS3 mistakes it would seem. PS4 “Orbis” dev kits reportedly offer 4GB of DDR3 RAM, 4GB less than Microsoft’s new console, However, Sony’s GDDR5 solution is capable of moving data at 176 gigabytes per second and is promising devs that it will try to bring the final PS4 models up to the 8GB bar. PS4 is driven by eight-core AMD CPUs clocked at 1.6GHz alongside the so-called ‘Liverpool’ system-on-chip. Knight705
won't be till the "slim" model comes out with the price drop before i even consider buying it. not going to pay the ridiculous cost i know it will cost at launch.
one69chev
IMHO, the PS4 can have all the specs and tech the folks at Sony can cram into it, but if there no decent games/apps for it, it's gonna be a waste of money and hype, kinda like the PS Vita has been. It's so technically advanced and yet the availability of apps is embarrassingly frustrating and there are only a handful of good games. I have basically resorted to shelving the Vita until Sony actually produces some decent content. And short of having a neck-massaging app, the PS4 is going to have to be pretty friggin awesome before i upgrade from my PS3......

I thought it seemed a little off too but I wasn't about to edit their article for them. Far as I know every article featuring the specs on the PS4 is all just rumor anyway. We'll have to wait until February 20th for more info. ♪Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery; None but ourselves can free our minds.♫ -Bob Marley, Redemption Song
Adoniram
I just hope it has 4K video capability. I assume games will be 1080p. I've been so happy with the PS3 as a media player/server/etc that I'd be very open to a PS4 for 4K video abilities. I wouldn't buy one for at least a year or 2 (because there's no 4K content available, and I don't have a 4K TV or projector), but it's definitely something I look forward to. 802.11n would be nice, but 802.11ac is already coming out. I'd like to see the PS4 stay as forward-thinking as its predecessor and integrate all these latest/greatest options. It would be a shame to see a PS4 with no 4k rendering (for videos), and only 802.11n... It would be obsolete in no time.
DickDastardly00
The PS4 rumored to be about $400 with a November release date. The controller has a built in touch screen and Move type sensor. It will use the same core processor as the Xbox 720, but will have slightly better graphical capability. Sony will officially unveil the new machine at a press conference in NY tonight. ♪Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery; None but ourselves can free our minds.♫ -Bob Marley, Redemption Song

dudeondacouch
Sleep mode = stupid Just leave it on. Playing a "level" for someone else = marginally stupid Play your own damn game. Not my fault you suck. Remote play with a tiny device = monumentally stupid (for adults, at least) I didn't buy a $2k TV and a $500 console to play a $70 game on a 4" screen. famaya26
What's stupid about leaving a console on sleep mode and being able to turn it back on without having to reload the game? dudeondacouch
Of course it creates more heat, but as long as your console is properly ventilated, the heat isn't the problem. It's the heat cycles that are the problem. Things expand and contract when they change temperature. This eventually cracks solders and weakens connections. True that it wastes energy, but the amount is so negligible that it's irrelevant. EDIT: I've never had a console break from heat cycles, because I leave mine on all the time. Original 60gb fatty PS3 still going strong.
