Lesson learned: Plasti Dip on the steering wheel does not last long. :( It will eventually peel up from the constant rubbing, etc.

I pulled the aftermarket steering wheel off. I prepped the surface, primed and applied Dupli-Color Bed Armor :D Feels great in the hands. Going wait 24 hours before installing it back on the race car ( ).

I did a few things today :)

1) Drained and filled transmission fluid.

2) Trimmed under tray so that it properly fits with the Cusco front brace. The Cusco front brace fits with the under tray unmodified, but it bulges where the brace sits and you can't secure the last few.

3) Installed my repainted aftermarket steering wheel, now with Dupli-Color Bed Armor :)

4) Installed Hotchkis rear sway bar. I have a Hotchkis front sway bar but that will have to wait for another day.

Car is at the dealer getting my new DWS tires mounted onto my new Forgestar F14s. They've been in boxes since November, it's about time!

I also spent about an hour and a half DIYing a sweet phone holder for my car. Will post pics.

Stock shift knob...

DIY shift knob... :)

I used a Samsung windshield mount cell phone holder. I cut off the ball end which attaches to the actual phone holder. I then drilled a center hole and tapped the threads straight through. It holds the phone in perfect hands reach, perfect viewable angle, and is clean!

So I definitely should have chosen visual appearance of the tire vs fuel economy... lol. I should have gone wider with a 225. Maybe I'll bite the bullet and buy another set next month if I can't just deal with it. 215 on 8.5 is too much stretch for my liking.

Pics!

^^^^. You're car is looking very sharp there, I can see you point about the stretch. May I inquire as to where the tires were purchased? The reason being is that I also had regrets about my first tire size selection. But since mine were purchased from NTB, I was able to return them even though they had been mounted for a better fitment size no questions asked. This isn't a great photo but here is before and after in 2 separate postings. :)

TireRack was going to give me a great deal but my question to them was about honoring the warranty. They explained I would have to ship the tire back, have their people determine the cause and if it were a warranty issue then they would ship me another tire. Also if I per chance did order and mount the wrong tire, my loss. Went to NTB salesman was like you have 30 days, bring them back if you don't like them and we will get you new tires. How could I resist that.

I am no way knocking TireRack because I have purchased at least 10 sets of tires with NO problems. I just wanted someone who was in front of me upon me placing an order.

As I'm getting older, I have less patience when it comes to dealing with issues. Sounds like considering a local place is definitely going to be higher on my priority list.

And on the topic of tire warranty... the installer had a hell of a time trying to balance two of them... I'm gonna take the car back to give them another go at it because they are out of balance after driving on them for a day. NOT looking forward to having to ship these back to TireRack if the dealer can't balance them.

Bought these MX5 wheels for my winter tires:

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a204/TRSCobra/20130513_153736_zps3fa16e91.jpg

This setup weighs only 35 lbs total!

And put some Hankook Ventus R-S3's in stock size on my stock rims for autocross.

This setup is a bit heavier, at 42.2 lbs. :(

I bought a Diehard Platinum AGM group 65 battery for my Tundra today to replace the leaking corroding stock battery. This required me to replace the original terminals with extended terminals, which required drilling out the stuck on corroded bolts on the old ones which needed to be replaced anyway. I also had to add a wood spacer underneath the battery to get it tall enough to clamp down.

On the plus side I now have a good quality AGM battery that shouldn't ever leak and corrode the posts and terminals. I also gained around 220 cold cranking amps over stock by going to the AGM in a larger size than recommended, so now I am up to 930 cold cranking amps which will be nice for me when the temp is -30 and I need to get the truck started. I considered going with a group 31 marine battery in an AGM but elected not to for space reasons.

Bought a Forester premium in 5 speed manual this week. My first manual in over 8 years. Love it.

Got a list of minor mods to do; starting with tint and WRX axle-back going on Tues, sourcing tires for my WRX 17s and Swift springs.

Been slowly adding all the stuff from my 2010 onto my 2013 Prius.

Today I finally got on the Cusco underbraces, rear swaybar, and strut tower brace.

It rides a lot smoother and doesn't wander so much at highway speeds.

I still have the front swaybar and either eibach springs or tein coilovers waiting to be installed.
