Gelacy Posted October 27, 2012 Share Posted October 27, 2012 I'm assuming by "matte" you mean non-glossy? Matte screens wash out in direct light even more badly than glossy screens. Glossy screens are a bit easier to read under bright ambient light, but will also reflect the sun much more sharply than a matte screen which will diffuse the light more. Every automotive factory LCD I've seen washes out under the right conditions. I use a matte laptop for experiments outside in the sun and it's a lot easier to read the display compared to laptops with LCD screens. The top one looks like a splash guard I guess the bottom image looks like it loves approach angles. It's not just the overdone blingy details, the proportions are extremely awkward. Subaru must be trying to outdo the B9 Tribeca in hideousness.
