Captain Ned
Just for the record, I can confirm that the 20-click trick works for a USDM '14 Forester.
Hanger
Test drove the new FXT last night. Awesome is all i can say. Took me awhile to adjust the seat though... other than that all is superb! ○ ○ ○ Instagram: itshangertime :spin: ○ ○ ○
legacy360
Just test drove a 2014 FXT Premium. It wasn't too bad. The layout/organization of the dash is quite a bit different. I think the multi-function display is pretty neat, but the surrounding trim looks cheap. The S# mode with the simulated 8 speed automatic was a positive change from the CVT seamless gearing. Although I found it annoying how quickly it was "shifting" through gears. At the end of the day, I'd consider it an option if I really needed something different from my wagon. dgoodhue
My wife's SUV was having more problems again. (Its 11 years old and has 100k miles, i was hoping to replace it after the next winter). As the family mechanic, I am getting tires of working on it. Anyways, I started looking at local dealer inventory of Foresters. I didn't do an extensive search but I looked at the nearest 5 dealerships inventory, those dealer has a total of about 200 forestors but I didn't find one XT premium. The only XT's I found were 4 tourings all with eyesight. A FXT touring w/o eyesight is probably absolute highest I want to spend for a replacement. Are XT Forestors selling quickly? Or are dealers just not stocking them?
Magic Marker
^^ I don't think most dealers, at least in NJ, are stocking XTs. 2011 Volvo S60T6 & 2013 Volvo XC60T6 Polestar

Or are dealers just not stocking them? And did you ask the dealer if you could order one? I suspect that the dealers are worried about not being able to sell them due to fuel consumption worries. If the gas prices takes a hike then they will be hard to sell - even though they have decent figures compared to earlier models.
dgoodhue
And did you ask the dealer if you could order one? I am just doing my initial research, so I am preparing to at least steer my wife towards something I like. (she probably won't listen anyways) The last time we talked about cars I think she was leaning towards buying another toyota, but she did like XT Outback I test drove. I am sure that she could order what the car she wants. It was just an observation looking at dealer websites, I prefer not to deal with car salesmen until I have to. Higuma
For any existing or potentially new Forester owners out there this is quite substantive news about the safety of the Forester... soloz2
The xt premium is quite rare. I found two in western ny. The first was sold while I was driving to the dealer. The second I got for the wife. She loves it. I do too... First tank of gas we got 26mpg mixed driving. Magic Marker
Buying a Foz now will be tough since FHI already said that sales are better than forecasted and that they will end up with a shortage. To those who bought, are you paying invoice or higher? 2011 Volvo S60T6 & 2013 Volvo XC60T6 Polestar
