Paul I know you are happy to move some kits and see them installed. Man I can't express how gleeful I am to see your ideas that you theorized and gathered interest about for years come to test and implementation.

It's not in the regular lineup - we cast the exhaust/compressor housings specifically for this application. While it could develop more power if we made a larger exhaust housing for it, unless somebody is going to go past 10psi, it would have hurt performance on the 2.5i.

And we can make (and have) larger exhaust housings to swap in if that ends up being the case.

So Paul for us 2005s out there, is the only install solution for us to get a EL header from the 06+ ?

Is there no solution for guys who want to keep the older RS style headers, and keep the easy bolt on headers we have access to?

I'd guess it would be the uppipe that would need to be different. Any chance any older uppipes may work with the kit?

You can either do this:

or this:

And fab an UP

or get a 2.5RS UP

Do we know of any cars that are running an 4eat yet? Really struggling with saving for this kit or just buying a new car. Just passed 60k so the warrenty reason is no longer a worry, I just remember reading that highway speeds are alittle high in rpms, and i drive 100 miles a day so I need to know im not making the wrong decision by not just trying to find an xt.

Highway rpm's or gearing isn't affected by the kit - if you are happy with your current gearing, then it's fine. That's just something particular to the car I used, the outback 2.5i which Subaru designated for some low gearing. Probably because they foresaw Outback owners getting into towing things.

Which I am intending to do, so hey, they were right.

In general, though, I see higher mpg with the kit on. Only 1mpg or so, but it's there, simply because the engine doesn't have to work as hard to maintain speed on the highway.

Just saw an AVO 2.5 rs kit today and I was pretty impressed, making me think that this is something that I might be leaning more towards. I planned to own this car for the long haul, so reliability is key, so I'm hoping that this kit isn;t going to void that aspect of my choice. As a side note the tranny cooler was already in the plans if I decide to head this route.

Well any power addition is going to wear the engine faster than a complete stock BUT this kit is very well engineered by trusted folks, ask a 2.5 RS owner that is running the older kit how well these kits hold up people have logged over 40K with the kit and they installed it well over 100K on the original engine. The 4EAT may run higher RPMS on the Highway.

And I don't think the non-LGTs come with the factory oil cooler at the oil filter, hence my recommendation to install that. Cooler oil, cooler overall operating temps, better performance overall. A cooler turbo engine typically is a happier turbo engine...think big doggie grin happier.

This is what they look like and the associated part numbers. Not sure if it comes as a whole kit or not - believe the oil cooler complete P/N is it but check with your dealer.
