Hi Jeff,

Sorry for the delay. That part is $117 + shipping.

The part number is 83071AG05B, unfortunately the buttons aren't available separately, only as the full assembly.

Best,

Rick

My 05 OBXT has this cruddy window switch problem too. I think its safe to say subaru is definently not winning any awards for window switches ill tell ya that. Ill see what I can do to fix it when i have my door panel off to replace my factory speakers.

sounds like they (subaru) at least fixed the problem..... looks like all '05 with the problem, with a couple exceptions (which are probably a different problem/similar sympton)

I have an '08 with 64k and no problems.

Sorry for the thread necromancy, but anyone know if you can get a passenger window switch and snap it into the driver's switch position? I'm thinking of getting a DEI 530T to do auto-up/down on both front windows, and won't need the OEM auto-down feature if I do that.

i have the same problem with the driver window switch, and also with the sun roof switch.

As Jim Lovell said over the radio to Gene Kranz at mission control in 1970, during the Apollo 13 early return from the moon's orbit (after the explosion on the service module) "...any vehicle is only as good as it's waterproof switches!"

Just a quick note that I took mine apart as my drivers window failed to move up. Just a few uses prior I had the sticky feeling. I was able to fix everything by taking it apart.

If you get the switch assembly out of the car. Get yourself a very small flat tip screw driver. You can pry out the yellowish white plastic backing.

Inside you'll see a green circuit board. You pull that straight up. Once the circuit board is out you can see the problem of the sticking as well as the non functioning switch. There is a white peg on the switch. When you remove the circuit board you'll probably find the white peg is at either end of the switches throw. What has happened is that the part of the switch you touch, the black part, has a little fork that the white peg sits in. I suspect over time, the fork loosens up over time, and that is when you feel the funky sticking sensation, as the peg is almost coming out of the fork. Then that unlucky day, when the window stops working, the little peg has separated itself from the black fork.

You'll see in the pictures, that for good measure, I took apart the white switch to make sure nothing was burned out. In the process I smeared around the grease inside to make it move a little more smoothly. I'm guessing the extra resistance of the lube wearing away over time contributes to the problem. You put the switch back together, and make sure the white peg is centered, then insert the circuit board back into the the switch assembly. There should be a little resistance as the white peg seats itself into the black fork.

Without the yellowish white backing plate, you can go test it in the door and with any luck it'll be working again. The motor does have some sort of trip mechanism, so it might not work right off. Give it 30 seconds, turn car off and back on and try again. It should work at that point if it is going to. At this point you can reinstall the yellowish white backing plate, and try again to confirm it still works. As long as it still works put everything back together.

Use the money you would have used to buy the switch towards having a nice beer and maybe a dozen chicken wings.

Nice piece of work! Never realized how complicated what seemed to be a simple switch really is.

How much time did the whole process take? How many curse words uttered?

Honestly, it didn't take that long at all to take the switch apart. You just need a small screw driver. It may have taken me 30 minutes once I had the switch separated from the door card.

15 minutes to find where the hell I put the white/yellowish backing plate after I took it off, and another 5 minutes to take the pictures.

The big challenges where taking off the black tape.

You may also go about this another way if what I did intimidates you(though it really isn't bad at all).

You can actually pry the switch itself off of it's little tabs that it rotates on. You will see the little fork when the switch comes off. Then you'll need a paperclip or something else long and thin to center the white peg, so the fork will cradle it again when you put the switch back on. The problem with that is, is you can't get inside the white switch mechanism itself and move the lube around.

I figured that I had nothing to losing taking the thing apart, as worse case scenario was I was going to have to buy another switch. Sometimes taking electronics apart, the tabs like to break. For this particular item it comes apart and re-assembles easily.

My auto window switch for driver window broke all together. it has no resistance anymore. So after I pull up to roll up the window I have to center the button or it keeps trying to roll it up. If I leave it that way it wont work for about a minute until I recenter the switch so it is not trying to roll up or down. That is a total PITA. Do you think I can fix that with doing this procedure?

Also do you have to remove the door panel in order to get the window switch assemble out?

Thank you,

Scott

There is a molded piece of plastic that does the re-centering, it's a little square that has a white plastic square in it. No idea if it just came apart on you or if the piece broke on you.

Long story short, you won't know until you take it apart.

You have to take the door card off to get to the switch.
