Didn't have time to read it all (will do that later) but saw a pic with a guy doing the sexy pose on the hood of the car. Tracer, I expect you to do the same with our car when it's all ready. That's YOUR sexy pose!!!

.

.

I have enough drama for now.....

I think we should all strike sexy poses, and bring a new meaning to the term "drag" racing.

Hmm..... That could bring an interesting twist to this event. I suppose at the end of the race we will lodge a formal complaint to the judges against the winner "He cheated! He didn't wear a wig and he didn't wear heels!"

I don't know about you, but I'm only planning on wearing wedges. They're way easier to drive in.

There is a big swap meet in Portland at PIT that goes around the whole track on April 8-11. Chump car will be there with a booth and these two cars:

We've lined up the "Happy Toyz" Dodge Colt and the "La Familia" FIAT X1/9 for the booth, both of these were trophy winners at the Portland race, the Colt for the engineering prize and the FIAT for best theme.

I'd like to go down there and check them out and get some ideas and walk the track. I'm not so much interested in the swap meet as escorts are not rare and we will not find any good parts for them there.

THIS IS THE ENEMY

They're the first team to win two Lemons races, and now they're the first to win both a Lemons and a Chumpcar event (in back to back race weekends!)

I doubt that they'll be making the trip up to PDX, but this is who we want to beat!

I give you...the Team Eyesore ghettocharged Miata:

Ooooooooooh, another thing I just realized: the Jalopnik Forza 3 car pack comes out this summer. It will have a '92 Escort Cossie, which gives us an Escort-shaped canvas on which to try out livery designs. Or, you know, we could just go krazy with Krylon and see what happens...

That would be the GT version. It came with a 127hp 114tq high revving 1.8L engine. Our 2.0L won't rev quite as high but w/o the turbo will make 110hp and 125tq and be lighter and more agile.

Anybody else see Charles Espenlaub's story in the new issue of GRM? Especially the pictures? I'm down with spending lots and lots and lots and lots of money on a good suit :eek:

Recap? :iam:

Smoke filled the cabin when he was going into turn 8 (the highest-speed corner at Thill), then as he approached T9 (which has a flag station) a big fire erupted; he hit the extinguisher, which put out the fire, and he hit the kill switch, then the car exploded while he was trying to get unbuckled

He managed to unfasten the window net and climb out and did the man on fire routine until the corner workers were able to spray him down, and all he had to show for it were some 2d degree burns on both hands and his right arm, probably from where he touched the roll cage on the way out.

The pics of the car are about what you'd expect - it's completely gutted by the fire. But the pics of the suit and helmet..wow. They're just as bad as the car! The only pics I could find are on facebook (my dog just farted), so here you go: http://ru-ru.facebook.com/album.php?aid=128047&id=87357584291&ref=share

Nomex good!

It's still not clear what caused the fire - initial reports said the driveshaft failed and ruptured the fuel tank, but in GRM the team claims that the driveshaft didn't fail, it was blown up in the fire. They think he was driving around for a while with a small, unnoticed fire near the fuel cell, but they don't say what caused it. :iam:

Another tidbit worth noting: Espenlaub races in the SCCA World Challenge series, and drivers have to do an annual test to see how quickly they can go from fully belted-in to outside their car. They have to do it in under 15 seconds, and he holds the record at under 5.
