Im having the same fitment issue with my replacement v3, the flex section is resting on the driveshaft support.. crazy. Also the mid-pipe needs to be shortened a half inch or so still, not a fan of mating exhaust sections with a hammer. At least i have a v2 back-up exhaust. Off to the muffler shop with Gmachine's last picture for reference. Thanks!

The exhaust shop cut the flex out and flipped it 180deg. You can see in the photo where the cuts were made.

The shop then flared the cut off section so it could then slip over the other section.

So, they shortened the midpipe by about an inch as well?

Can't say for sure what the exact dimension is. 3/4 to 1 inch sounds about right.

Once the flex section is cut and flared that flared section is what determines how much you can shorten the mid.

V3 mufflers and Cross over section seems shorter than V1 front to back.

When i bolted V3 onto my V1 modified mid,the mufflers of V3 have more clearance with the rear bodywork.

^ Lookin' good! :D

Question...is that a little further "down" that it used to be, with the V1, or is that just my imagination?

If it is it's not much. Even the V1 when photo'd from straight back and level with the tips looks like it's lower than it should be. I know what you mean though. It would look killer if the tips tucked up higher into the cut out. Maybe some hanger tinkering is in order. Done is done unless it's not.

That's the other thing I was wondering about - if it wasn't that the photos are making it look like it's hanging further down than it really is.

I'm bringing this back to life for a question. Has anyone else with the v2 or v3 noticed that the exhaust only seems to exit from the passenger side exhaust? I didn't notice this until it got cold outside and saw it for myself.

It's physics.... ;)

The same reason why we typically selectively fireball out of the driver's side canisters, too.

I think that the only reason why the factory system sees equal distribution of condensate out both sides' tail-pipes is because there's so much restriction at the canisters.

Many of the aftermarket systems do this. :)

Anyone else seeing rust at the exhaust tips and at the plaque weld-points?

First winter here with mine....I'm frankly kinda disappointed. :(

Certainly, the unit is affordably priced, but it's also advertised at "full 304 stainless."

My Blitz Nur-Spec canisters (which had been on my car for at least 3 - if not 4 - winters) never showed this kind of issue either at the tips or at where its plaques were attached (to the bottom of the cans).

You mean the little invidia plaques on the exits? If so I have that. Just thought it was the actual weld that was rusting not the exhaust steel.

^ I need to take a closer look, it may just be the welds - but even if it were just the welds, the welds for the plaques on the bottom of my Blitz canisters are still just fine, after all these years. :(

I found:

V2: http://www.fredbeansparts.com/index.php/invidia-subaru-legacy-gt-v2-catback-exhaust.html

Does anyone know what version this one is? its cheaper.. http://www.subimods.com/invidia-q300-quad-tip-catback-exhaust-for-05-09-legacy-gt-spec-b.html

if I get a V2, and have about an inch removed from the midpipe, will it be OK?

ArcTec I just purchased the exhaust, it should say 3 somewhere in the product number. I know Subimods definitely has version 3 because that's where I bought mine and it's priced reasonably.

thanks! yeah subimods, importimage both say "gt3" at the end of the product number...aka v3. but fredbeans specifically says "v2" in the description yet the product number still has the gt3 in it

fitment went well for you, though?

So I know this subject has been beat to death, but nothing hurts to contributing , right ? I purchased a v2 from a member and got around installing it. I'll list every problem/ issue big and small that I came across starting from the invidia dp.

First off I was able to install the midpipe without modifying the invidia downpipe like others have. First issue I came across is that the flex joint on midpipe is pushing up against my heatsheild and a drivshaft bracket behind it. I literally don't have any clearance there. Second issue came across is the passenger pipe is awfully close to my stock rsb ( pics provided). Also, the pass. side muffler is very close to the inside corner of the bumper and fear that it'll burn it. It could be even closer if I pushed the slip on joint all the way in. I left about 1/2 out. (otherwise I have plenty of clearance all around both mufflers)

Last thing is that the the pass muffler isnt tucked up as nicely as my drivers side. It hangs a little lower, it may be my 6+ yr old hangers because I notice this on my stock cbe. I plan to visit an exhaust shop to fix the flexpipe and swaybar clearance. I'l also ask if he use weld flanges instead of slip-on joints and tack weld the logos on the lips better. Other than all this, I LOVE the sound. I can see why alot of people went through so much trouble, lol. On to the pics.
