Rota Gravel - JDM Enkei STI replicas!

Brian (93turbo2) has Tein Coilovers with a 235/40/18 Falken FK452 tire. He does have camber plates in front and so he is able to easily adjust his camber. As mentioned, his rear fenders have been rolled to avoid rubbing.

The 18x8.5 +44 fitment is definiately an aggressive setup on the LGT and does require rear fender modifications to fit properly with a 235/40/18 tire. If fender rolling is not an option, the 18x8 +48 fitment is highly recommended.

Here's an example of the Rota Grid's (exact same 18x8.5 +44 fitment) with 255/35/18 tires. It looks amazing but to achieve this fitment fender work is a must

Yup, I'm running Tein Basics with Ingalls Camber bolts up front. I ended up rolling all 4 corners just for good measure and rolling 235/40/118 Falken FK452 tire. Thanks answer for me Dan! I don't have access to the forums when I'm at work. lol.

I've seen Mauijim's in person and it is by far one of these best looking styles out and these gravels do look dead on to those JDM's. I dont know everything about the JDM's but I do know they offer them in both 17's and 18's, the STI Forester ran a different size then the LeggySTI there for you have 17's + 18's. I dont know which ones had the larger ones, I think MauiJim said he had the 17's from a forester??

A member gave a nice rundown earlier in the thread on what JDM sizes were available- the original owner bought these from JapanParts, they were an option for WRXs: 17x8, +50, 5x100. They were made in a lot of sizes, though, and JDM Forester Enkeis would be gold 18's.

For us wagon lovers, the widest (tallest) tire combo you can get without rolling your fenders, etc is 235/40/18 on a 8+48 rim...

Not sure on 44 though, but assuming it would be a push with that setup!

Makes me nervous. I want to run a 245/45/18 on my Outback, and I really don't want to roll any of the fenders.

The 18x8.5 +44 fitment works well on the Outback and you will not have fitment issues with a 245/45/18 tire. This is a very common setup a lot of our Outback/Forester customers have ran with the 18x8.5 +44 Grid's and it fits great!

Would the 18x8.5 fit on a Spec.B that is lowered (pinks) with out rubbing? The tire choices are limited for correct speedo on the Spec.B 215/45R18 or 245/40R18 would love to have the 245's.

It is highly recommended to roll your rear fenders to accommodate the 18x8.5 +44 setup on the Legacy GT. I would recommend a 235/40/18 tire for this application. The tire height is just slightly shorter than OEM diameter which is perfect for overall fitment on the car. A 245/40/18 tire would be too tall for this application and would most likely cause fitment issues on full lock turns and or larger bumps (taller height than OEM).

You could get the 18 x 8 and run a 235/40. Your speedo will be off by .8% or something small like that. Thats what im doing on my spec, which will be lowered on pinks soon too.

One more thing: Here are a couple of pics I took of a World Rally Blue Legacy STi wagon in Japan a couple of years ago...

What color are these JDM Enkeis? Hyper black or gunmetal?

+44 on the fender-flared OBXT would look killer, considering that stock is +48. +50 on the LGT wagon looks great to me (compared to the +53 or +55 stockers). Tires are 245/40R17 FK452s.

Are these Hyper Blacks? Hyper black and gunmetal look very similar in color depending on sunlight and angle.

If you mean, what's the closest Rota color to the JDM Enkeis, that would by Hyper Black. Rota's "Gunmetal" is basically a metallic deep brown.

Here's a Gunmetal Rota RB next to a silver one, on a black carpet.

Gunmetal is darker with a hint of bronze. The white wagon is definitely Hyper Black, the blue wagon looks like just plain silver if they come in that color, but definitely not Gunmetal.

Correct- and both the white wagon and blue wagon are JDM Enkeis in Hyper Black. They do look different depending on the angle, from bright silver to darker shades (partly why they look so great!). Added bonus- let them get dirty/covered in brake dust, and they look gunmetal .

Hey MauiJim! Please explain to me how these silver wheels are hyper black? Im getting really lost with this name "hyper black" on a wheel thats not even close to black...

Hyper Black is a Rota color name. It refers to this color:

I don't know what Subaru calls the color of the Subaru/STI/Enkei wheel that looks similar.

Rota's color naming scheme can be a little unconventional. The word "Royal" in a Rota color name usually (but not always) means the lip of the wheel is polished.

Mach V is right- I'm getting caught up in the naming conventions of this thread vs what Subaru calls them. Subaru just calls them 'silver', but what I was pointing out is that these are very close to Rota's Hyper Black (for reference for the people ordering the Gravel). Waxiboy has done a lot of research on the JDM Enkeis, and they come in silver, gold, white, and gunmetallic. I have silver, he has gunmetallic. You can see them in white on the Spec C RA-R.

I was just getting at the point of putting black any where in the name of this color is just stupid. I love the wheel I just hate that they call it hyper black. Oh and Im not forgetting that I got 1st dibs on your wheels when your ready to let them go =)

The 18x8.5 +44 fitment is a bit on the aggressive side for Legacy GT's and will require rolled rear fenders with the majority of tire sizes. I have spoke to the engineers at Rota and we can make 18x8 +48 fitment (confirmed to also clear Brembo calipers) for you guys :)

For those interested in a more LGT friendly fitment (18x8 +48) please post and or PM me!

Dan -

Any chance these Rota Gravel wheels will be offered in an OEM size and fitment? More like the OEM JDM Enkeis that Waxiboy has on his GT, 18x7.5 +55 ??? Just curious. 18x8 +48 is great size & fitment from what it sounds like, but for the daily driven GTs like mine...I think 18x7.5 +55 would more than enough. Thanks.

The BBS calls it Diamond Black (that's what the Evo IX SE rims are called).

The JDM Enkei look brighter than the Gravel Hyper Black. I have yet to see a Hyper Black picture not look overly dark. Hyper Silver would be a better color for these.

By looking at the outside of the wheel it doesn't appear black, however, black is one of the key "ingredients" for this finish ;)

Here's a side shot of the Hyper Black Gravel which shows the all black base :)

I replied to your PM :) As mentioned, we do not have plans to release a 18x7.5 model with a higher offset. The 18x8 +48 model is an awesome fit on the Legacy GT sedan and will work very well on a daily driven car. We have tons of customers running this fitment on various wheels (Tarmac 3's, Torque's, P1's, etc..) and with a 225/40/18 this setup is a direct bolt on fit

Check out the following customer gallery's here, all cars in the following links are running 18x8 +48 wheels ;)

anyone have the gunmetallic on a dgm car yet? might get these in 18x8 when i get back from deployment. would rather matte bronze but dont think i can get two others to join in.

I don't have an example on a Legacy however here's a 08 DGM STi with Gun Metallic G-Force's

I will, when they come in.

Speaking of that, Subydude - Any updates on the shipment in from the East?

I should have a solid update in the coming 1-2 weeks. The wheels should be in production as of right now and will be scheduled for container loading the first/second week of November

so excited! Thanks for the updates. No rush, well rush but very politely rush :).

Also have you heard anyone having issues with 18x8 235/40/18's? Alot of people have said thats what they would go with and i picked up a set for wicked cheap. Just wondering what mods i might have to do. I am lowered on pinks ~1" in the front. Also running a 225/45/17 right now for snows. With a tire calculator that said i am going to go .5 inches bigger so .25 on either side of the hub and !.25 deeper. I dont think i will have issues but just throwing it out there to see who bites with advice
