Brake lines for Brembos

Just to get this straight.... what we want is a rear LGT line with a Brembo fitting? Do we need to make these the same length as a rear STi (Brembo) line? or the same length as a stock rear LGT line?

What we need is the rear LGT line, but with a straight connection to fit onto the rear Brembo caliper.

They should be the same length as the LGT line.

Thanks.

Easy. Lets setup a cutoff for orders by Monday so we have the weekend to get everyone on board.

Then I will generate an order page and everyone can place their orders and I'll process.

This is only for the last rear two lines, so you would need the first rear 2 lines anyways correct?

I still have the rear blue lgt specific set that i purchased from you and that i have not opened yet and was planning on using with my brembo swap. Can I get this custom rear setup and return the other?

This was just for the lines that connect to the caliper. If the front two lines are needed, it will be slightly more.

You can return. Email me and I'll get the return/credit setup.

I am a little confused by this as well. So currently we have 2 lines per side in the rear, so which of the following is this going to do?

1. Replace one the rear most line with a shorter one (only the one connected to the caliper).

2. Replace both rear lines with a single line.

Just saw your response to VXCL... I think that answered my question...

Nice!! but now i'm thinking maybe just keep it so when I go back to stock I can just swap the other line on.

In the 2nd pic of this post http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2446466&postcount=35 you will see how the stock LGT lines bend to an "L" shape, hence missing the 2 holding tabs on the rear STi Brembo. If the line was straight, it would be easy to fit it "correctly" to the caliper.

Hope this helps.

Do you know if LGT brake lines are the same for an Outback XT? Just bought the rear Brembos, and want to replace stock lines. Will the +04 Legacy Goodridge lines fit to the old 2 pot Bembos. What did you end up using?

The part # is different, but it could still fit

Sorry guys I was away. Was racing at NJMP when I discovered new cylinder head I put in had a freaking crack in it! ARGH. Was wrenching, etc.

End of the month should be ok. Lets try to finalize this by the end of the week. If you guys want, Phil has volunteered to take the first set for fitment and confirmation of fit. I dont think there should be any issues, but if you want confirmation, he will provide along with pictures.

They will take roughly 1 week to make and then depending on where you are located, another week via UPS Ground.

I will generate an order page with a link and you guys can just go there to place your order directly. The price on the page will include shipping.

So just to confirm: We need LGT rear sets (4 lines). The rearmost lines will be LGT length and same LGT spec, except for the caliper fitting. The caliper fitting will be that for the STi Brembo rear.

It's just two lines that we need (except for OBXT_King who needs all 6). The lines marked (14) on the drawing are not needed, it's just the last ones that bolt onto the caliper (8)

I'd really like to jump on this, but I am hesitant without a test set being made and fitted to the car. I believe the rearmost line should be made a bit shorter in addition to changing the fitting. Or perhaps the LGT fitting needs to be kept, but the line made much shorter. It's all about routing the line nicely from the caliper to the hard line on the trailing arm.

If you think about it makes sense - the LGT line must be bit longer to reach that L shaped fiting. The STI fitting will go straight thus shortening the distance needed for the line.

The more I think about it the sti fitting may make the fitment worse if not impossible, because the line will be too long and will be forced to bend at an unacceptable angle.

I am busy but I'll try to take off a wheel on my car snap few pics to illustrate the issue.

Here is the pic of the caliper mounted on an Impreza STI:

I thought the problem was that the LGT lines were too long?

That's what I meant. The stock configuration LGT line along with LGT fitting is too long. Impreza fitting may make it worse, unless the line is also shortened.

What I was trying say is that the LGT fitting might be line with Brembos just fine if the line is significatly shortened.

It's hard to discuss without pics.

The plan was to make a line that is the same length overall as a stock LGT line but with a STi Brembo fitting....
