lowering springs recommendations/suggestions please

I've not paid attention to this whole exchange, so forgive me if this is incorrect, but...

I recall needing "butt spacers" for the rear suspension, with the Bilstein struts and aftermarket springs. Some of the aftermarket vendors sell them, in a couple different widths.

Correct?

The Bilsteins might need them, but I have a GT not a Spec B, w/ the stock KYB's.

Can I get opinions on what size spacers to use for my wagon with H Techs? I thought I read some posts a while ago, but can't seem to find any tonight. I just bought the Teins and I'm going to head to Mach V soon to pick spacers up.

It seems like a lot of sedans use 3/8 so I figure I'd need 1/2 - or am I wrong?

i think 3/8" should be fine. i used 3/8" on the sedan and the rear seems high compared to the front.

slick-if you look in the msi group buy thread they have posted pictures of msi springs (essentialy eibach's) after a few weeks of driving. they settled and have a 2 finger gap all the way around.

this drop looks perfect. check page 23 & 25.

Okay, it's been 5 days now since I installed my Eibach's. The rears sit nice, about a two finger gap, but the fronts are still about the same as stock. Its a 3 finger gap. Should it be taking this long to settle, or is there perhaps an install problem?

Something's wrong. It should be lower. Take them off and try again.

Okay, maybe I just need to give it a little more time. I took one one the front struts out and resat it. I'll give it until next Monday and see how they sit.

What could I have done wrong though? The springs are seated up against the lower notch, so I'm not sure where I would have messed up. Maybe sitting up against the top hat, but it doesn't seem like theres a proper way for that to sit anyway (besides drain holes being on the outside). Granted it's my first spring install I've ever done, and did it by myself.

Edit: So I just posted some pictures, but did it in my own thread so I wouldn't clog this one up. Appreciate any help guys!

Let's try this. The stock ride height per the manual is 15" from the wheel arch to the center of the hub for the fronts. The rear is 14.4" for the sedan and 14.8 for the wagon. These dimensions are +.47 and -.94 (quite a spread, huh?). What are you measuring?

Looks like about 13.75" front and back, give or take. I guess it did drop it a bit, thanks CBRRICH. So, if 14.4" in the rear, dropped about .75". (Or, if the low end of the tolerance range, it didn't drop it any...).

It's weird, though the measuring tape result is almost the same front and back, yet I have a two finger gap in the back, and a three finger gap in the front.

Here's where my Eibach's sit after a week and a half of settling, dimensioned from the center of the wheel.

Stick with nominal, that would be a new/new comparison. Just a nit on measuring:It's a little esier if you put the end of the tape against the wheel well. The Eibachs are suposed to drop 1" front and 7/8" rear. Looks like you measured a drop of 1.25 front and 3/4 to 1" rear (sedan/wagon). Remember, these are new springs. Sounds like you are there.

Dang, I can't find it but somewhere out in this great site someone posted a nice table with all the springs, thier lowering height relative to stock, and thier spring rates, including if they were progressive. I'd swear I saved it somewhere but for the life of me I can't find it. Can anyone else help?

I have Eibach springs, a Rallitek rear swaybar, and Bilstiens. From what I remember, the Eibach spring fronts were slightly stiffer and the rears were the same as stock but keep in mind these are progressive springs so as you loaded them up they got stiffer without sacrificing anything in ride. I'm pretty happy with the results.

This includes it but it is wrong for the Rallitek rear drop. Should be .9".

thanks for the chart... I have MR Coilovers and they are a bit harsh so I want to put some springs on my stock struts. I love the handling of the MR's but will to sacrifice a bit to get a good year or two out of my stock struts. Accourding to this chart I'm thinking Eibach (MSI/Epic), HTech, Ion, Progress, H&R, or Rallitek should suit my needs. Any recomendations?

Just the stock lgt struts here

Same here, Eibachs with stock struts. I also replaced the front bumpstops with trimmed ground controls. Virtually no sacrifice in comfort but noticable reduction in lean and dive/squat. I love it.

More info on your bump stop swap please? Pictures? Easy to do? Where did you buy bump stops? etc. Does this make a noticable difference over just the springs? I assume this is just to prevent hitting the bump stops, or are they stiffer?

This thread:

http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/tein-h-techs-really-good-substitute-eibachsi-121163.html

talks about the eibachs and equivalent. I posted in there a lot. See posts 72 to 86 for some observations and pics of the bumpstops.

In this thread:

http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/blistein-hd-bump-stop-mod-99244p3.html

I describe my experiences with cutting and replacing the bumpstops. Read from post 68 to the end.

I'll have to find you the info about where I bought the bumpstops. You can probably google Ground Control soft progressive to find them. I originally got info on these from this forum but I can't find it now. I'll also see if I can find my email from Ground Control with advice on where to cut their bumpstops.

Eibach pro kit is the same as the Epic kit from Fred Beans... correct?

That is correct. I talked to Jeremy the other day and he confirmed it. It is a limited run, so if you want them call Jeremy ASAP. I don't know how many he has left.

Ya. The car barely leans at all. It's sooo much faster in the corners. And for just springs you can't complain at all. I recommend these springs for sure. I think it's the beginning of this thread where bosco swears by this setup. He has had coilovers. Pinks on bilsteins. Etc. He likes eibach on stocks for the perfect dd. I completely agree
