apexjapan Posted April 14, 2009 Share Posted April 14, 2009 Only once a year, yet it takes up so much time and energy for all the Subaru and Mitsubishi tuners of Japan. Plus just that one crazy outside element that originated in Australia that runs a certain black widebody STI. You could say we are a Japanese tuner, though, as Ross and the crew has been fighting it out in the back alleys of Tokyo versus the Prova's and Zerosports for over 6 years now. And we've been coming to the Hypermeet for 4 years, bringing Legacies and STI's to do the dirty on the track. This year was no exception. Equipment has changed a bit, with new Hankooks tires, a new fuel cell, tweaks to the body work and tweaks to the suspension settings. The engine was refreshed to addressed some stretched cam timing belts (everybody should check theirs on occasion!), and re-tuned now that things were not off by a half tooth. So how did it go? Well, I'll say for now that we didn't crash, though sometimes the newly found power being put down made things even hairer than usual. And we certainly improved our times. By how much? And our 4th place wasn't in our class, but outright. We were beat out by Car Station Maruche in a GDB STI (1st), G-Force in a Evo 10 (2nd), and Prodrive Japan in a GC8.
