I've already posted this up in my other thread, but will repeat it here. I know I'm going to lose a lot of respect with this post, but here goes....

If anyone's wondering what car I moved to, hold on to your hats ... a Volvo!

Yes, I know what you're thinking. WTF?! From this to a Volvo? I must be on crack! Don't get too freaked out. It's the only thing I could find within my budget that I could use as a stepping stone for something better later on. Especially since I just couldn't stomach the shape and style of the Gen V Legacy. No offense to Gen V owners.

Anyway, here it is. Don't laugh. Despite being a stepping stone I still take a bit of pride in it and have done it up a little with whatever I could find as no one makes any mods for the Volvo.

No way. They have the world's deadliest snakes and crocodiles and all kinds of other animals that want to end your existence.

Meh, it's not like I plan on staying there indefinitely. I'm thinking one, two, or maybe 3 years max, then move over to Japan for about the same time span just for the hell of it.

Thanks for your concern, though :lol:

Folks, thanks for the warm reception. I thought perhaps I would get banned going in that direction. Ironically enough this reaction is a lot more positive than the folks from the Volvo forum!

Apparently I've been branded a 'rebel' because I don't fit the Volvo ownership profile. Wheels are too big, they said. The car is too low. The tints are too dark. The car looks too black! But yes, those are some of the reactions I got when I posted on there.

what model is it?

It's a 2011 Volvo S60 T6. The 3.0 liter Inline 6 turbo model with AWD. It's not as aggressive as the Legacy but rather a comfortable cruiser. But there's gobs of torque so it can be fun at times.

I don't mean to be vulgar, but does money grow on trees in Australia?

Aw come on. The car is not that expensive! :) I picked it up for less money than my 2007 Legacy STi. It's not the top of the range model so I saved quite a bit of dough.

Which I used for some choice mods like 20" wheels, lowering springs, Bilstein shocks, body kit, and quad tip exhaust, as they don't make anything for the Volvo.

So I guess it could be said us legacy folks "admire a great body no matter what the make". Guess what movie and who said this line.

It's a great looking ride. The mods you made were very tastefull. If Subaru doesn't improve the look of the Legacy in the next generation at least I have an alternative to consider. Best of luck.

Thanks for the kind words fellas. The exhaust was produced by my friend who also did most of the mods on my car, and now finally started his own shop called Garage 88 (www.garage88.com.au). He's opening in a few weeks time, but can ship directly from Japan to anywhere in the world. The exhaust tips are the burnt titanium from K2 Gear, which I had to sell my first born to buy.

I love it, flush! Where did you get the vents to replace the rear bumper markers??

Standard on the Australian models.

We don't have the reflectors in the bumper, they are incorporated in the tail light I'm fairly sure.
