Anyone know of a good trustworthy shop or mechanic in the south jersey area? I'm just outside of Atlantic City, didn't care so much with my 2002 lgt, but just got a 2010 GT and I'd like to know of some one or some place that know what they're doing God forbid any issues arise. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I've had 60k maintenance done by Dave @ rallispec in Berlin -

Also had some work done @ Procom in toms river - Joe Lieberman was good to deal with - spent plenty of time explaining stuff to me, working through options

I can PM you some work receipts for comparison tomorrow

Haven't really planned on timing yet - could go as early as 5, and end time doesn't really matter either - if we just said 6:30? How's that sit with people?

I have used both Procom and RalliSpec.

Vince and Lou both know a TON about Subarus and it's really a toss-up as to who will work better for you.

Rallispec is a nice little shop in West Berlin and Vince does really, REALLY good work. They help build racecar Subaru's weekly, or at least it seems that way. The only downside is that if you want anything involving a retune or dyno work, you need to go somewhere else.

Procom. I could go on forever. I'll do my best not to turn this into a fanboy testimonial (even though that's exactly what it'll turn into). Short version is this:

Lou is a God with an ECU. He does things to your Subaru that it didn't even know it could do. He's one of only a handful of COBB-Certified EFI tuners in the country. His shop is a freaking clean-room. His engine build room is fully enclosed and cleaner than a surgical suite. His staff know Subaru's back to front, top to bottom. I've essentially rebuilt my '07 GT there. I have his OEM+ block with forged internals (after my original EJ255 met an early demise with a water pump failure, and I got the car back in 10 days, as opposed to the 6 week turnaround that IAG gave me), I just got a new Blousch 440XT and Tomei EL headers and ID1000s put in, and my car makes 370/370 to the wheels and Lou spends a good 1 to 2 hours on your car at MINIMUM to make sure it runs as well at idle as it does at WOT.

The ONLY downside to Procom is that for me, he's an hour away in Toms River. I'm in Cherry Hill. But I make the trip, even for just an oil change, because they'll look over the car and make sure she's running right every time.

Also, they stand behind their work. During the turbo/header/injector install, they found a VERY small leak from one of the valve seals that they had done the work on themselves during my motor rebuild. Lou has already told me that he wants to see the car at the next oil change to re-check the leak. He already knows its not serious. I could go the rest of the life of that motor and never have it fixed. But he WANTS to fix it. For no charge. And that involves dropping the motor, taking apart the heads, checking the seals, and then bolting it all back together. Only downside is I lose the car for three or four days, but I'm going on vacation over the summer, so I'll give it to him then. :icon_bigg

When I went to Rallispec, Vince charged me a flat fee for labor to install an IAG AOS and fix some of the oil lines running to and from the old turbo. It was about 50% of the bill. Procom's rate is $105/hour, and the retune rate is $125/hour after the initial $250 tune as long as you already own an AccessPort (which takes about 2 hours, so it's the same price). Either way it works out to be about the same, but simply because of what I have done to the car, I choose Lou and Joe at Procom.

And yes, that's the short version.

I'm an admin in my local Subaru Facebook group, and we advocate a variety of different shops. You could go to Gear One Performance, FAST of West Chester, Precision Tuning, Rallispec, Procom or any of the other specialist shops and get a great service and know your car is in good hands. It really depends on who your first service is with. If you like him, you stick with him. If you don't, you find someone else. Personally, Lou has never steered me wrong. He's offered advice, listened to my concerns and answered questions clearly and honestly, he and Joe can be reached anytime through Facebook, and Procom's service is second-to-none. Lou will advise on any part of your car that looks like its wearing out, and will give you a timeline as to how long you can afford to wait before it absolutely has to be replaced. He understands that most of us have limited budgets and need a quick turnaround. Plus, Jack the shop dog is awesome.

So that's my rant. From personal experience, it's "Top Shelf or Nothing," as Procom's motto says. They're my only choice.

Heading out to FAST today for a quick checkup - valve stems leaking - but will be around the area from noon on if anyone is around

Having serious problems even getting a call back from FAST these days. They seem overwhelmed since getting the dyno. Sucks after spending thousands there developing a relationship and they won't even call back or help me with my cel issues. Guess other customers are spending more per visit these days but at least give a loyal customer a call back and an opportunity to schedule sometime in the future. That's messed up...

So who else is good in the area?

Sedan is stock currently. Ordered a pcv assembly and metal T upgrade kit and was hoping Dave would check over the vac lines and all and hopefully it was just that. Seems reasonable to me. They always seem cool when I can actually get in touch with someone and my money spends good... Get a fing receptionist. Ffs.
