I did state in another thread ayear or 2 ago that SOA was thinking of doing a recall and switching to the Perrin model cause it was immune to this defect. SOA did not see it as being cost effective and did do it, they also tried to get a liscance to use Perrin Anti-Soap Coating Technology (ASCT) but they could not come to an agreement. Aperently washing your car is not routine maintaniance to SOA

I was on line at the carwash and my IC managed to squeezed out of the hood scope and run down the street. I tried to drive after it but of course, I had no boost/power.

I was so embarrased.

I went with the AVO TMIC, which doesn't have the soap=melting problem, as long as you use JDM soap.

 

The Perrin doesn't have a melting problem, since Perrin users like to keep it dirty.

If you aim the GFB BOV outlet at the IC, it will keep the IC clear of USDM car wash soap.

Soap causing damage to the intercooler is an easy problem to avoid. After running my car thru the carwash, I simply spray down the intercooler with a can of dehydrated water to wash off all the soap. I then check under the hood with my solar powered flashlight to make sure I got all the soap off with my spray can of dehydrated water. Just takes a second to do and REALLY makes a difference.

Also please check that the soap you avoid using on the intercooler is not the same soap you splash on the AC condenser nor the radiator!!

If you see "ILL." displayed on your dash, it's due to the Intercooler Lather Lock sensor. The number after "ILL." is a measurement of the relative amount of soap present.

OK, Soap = Bad!!! Is there a wax/polish that intracooler safe? I use the wax-as-you-dry spray stuff and sometimes some overspray gets inside the scoop. Should I be worried?
