nivek
The Lakers have been so inconsistent recently its hard to believe they want the top spot in the West. While I realize I let my hopes get up with some spetacular play from the bench in the past few weeks, I am appreciating the fact that we clinched a playoff berth. nivek
The Lakers current weakness is a lack of defense. When they get behind by double digits they start to rely on the 3 point shot to help them out...a little too much. The loss of Ariza has hurt this team more than the loss of Bynum or Pau (when he was out). I am positive that the Lakers would have lost fewer games and the other players would already be in the habit of playing better defense. As it stands now, the Lakers must learn to play defense if they expect to get through the first round. Their free throw shooting as a team has been inconsistent as well. In the playoffs, they need to be hitting more of their free throws. Fouls. The Lakers are carrying a liability with Kobe on the verge of receiving his 16th technical since it means he will be suspended for one game. What can LA do without the best player in the NBA who continues to play with an injury that requires surgery? The Laker team needs to be more aggressive even if it means picking up a few more fouls in the first half. Some times it seems like we get through the first half and none of the players on the other team have been to the foul line. More defense. Its atrocious when Kobe roams the floor and leaves an open man who ultimately makes the 3 point shot...it feels like a dagger in the heart. It hurts us even more when other Lakers players do it. Don't leave the shooter on the perimeter! Why isn't Phil screaming this at the half and at the ends of games. We lose more games because of this than any other reason. Just a few of the things that I have been wanting to vent...

nivek
What a game! I hope the Lakers can learn to play this kind of defense for all 4 quarters. If so, we have a very good shot at taking the Western Conference and getting a shot in the Finals.
