sdvictor - I think I'm going to go your route and get the CK3000 - you did a slick setup. However, it's hard to tell where you mounted the mic - is it up around the rearview mirror? Any tidbits of info for the install process that I need to pass on to the professional installer (other than don't scratch the console)??? I will also be getting the adapter connections that you can purchase so no wires are cut.

the mic is actually the little black nub next to the rear-view mirror post. You can literally stuff the wire into the padded ceiling liner very easily, pull it down the a pillar (there is someone on this site who installed a turbo boost gauge who showed how to remove the post) behind the fusebox in the front dash and to the center console area.

I used these harnesses (around 50 bucks or so):

Did a google shopping search for the cheapest CK3000 Evo kit (79 bucks at time of posting):

http://www.google.com/products?q=CK3000&btnG=Search+Products

And these instructions to rip apart the dash:

Honestly, if you can hold a screwdriver and are willing to fiddle around for maybe 1-2 hours (at a slow pace), you can do it yourself and save some money. Plus, you will know any damage is caused by you instead of some installer.

  • 2 weeks later...

Really, heat and stretch huh?

Makes sense as to how it would need to get around our headlight bubble. Was it a PITA to do?

Oh, and I will have some pics coming soon of my newest purchase... but you'll have to wait for it to show up at my door just like me ;)

Also put a Mid/Y pipe on the QSM baby, but not much to see there for pics... may have the exhaust shop weld some dual tips onto the stock mufflers, just because I like the sound as it is now... still kinda sleeper. ;)

Actually, it's very easy. You can peel it off and start over if you have problems with it.

You just make sure it's wet with spray and your fingers stay wet, so you don't get fingerprints on the film.

I have some overlays to tint the rear reflectors if you want them.

I guess I should have done this when I bought it, better late then never. Purch. date was 07/14/07, my B-DAY. I did the 18" Enkei FN18's, Tein springs, KYB struts, perin dp and the spt intake. Did the work myself and finished it all before actually purchased it. I was the F&I mgr at the Dlrshp. Tell me what you think ladies and gentelman. Oh yeah, the following monday I got the windows tinted (35% including the windsheild). I will get some better pics of soon.

Thanks!

Already have a painted RBS trunk spoiler...

I'm gonna get my front lip spoiler in black and hopefully get the balls to black out the headlights some day... that should tie it in a bit nicer. Maybe some CF eyelids if they ever come around.

For now it just matches the grill guts and the fog light surrounds... but a nice little accent I think. :D

i plan on painting my grill black, instead of doin the rbs, but i like that yours is coming along well... im going to go with the CF sti trunk spoiler when i have teh balls to drill into my trunk! and hopefully they come with a CF front lip one day, and mix that in as well
