Congrations on passing the inspection.

It would be a real PITA to fail the test, and have to return the car to stock and still get charged the inspection fee ("pass or fail" as the signs say). As with everything else, the fees just keep going up in price.

I'm actually curious as to whether a high flow cat is a violation or not, in counties where the inspection is limited to visual only. If a part isn't OEM, how's a tech supposed to know if it's legal? With factory parts, there's a presumption they meet federal standards. With aftermarket, however, who knows?

Now if they actually did the sniffer test, then the proof would be in the pudding, as they say...if you pass, you pass.

Its my understanding that tampering is tampering. You are not allowed to do anything to the emissions system. I think it was a combination of things that let me pass. 1. Is the OBD-II. If that checks out, that means the computer thinks everything is ok. Hell, I would like to know what the result would be with no cats and teh OBD-II still coming up fine. 2. The HFC is right there. They see it. Combined with 1. everything looks peachy. 3. Unknown vehicle. The vehicle was new to them, so they probably aren't used to seeing factory pipes. I think they might have a reference book...but what's the likelyhood of these shops actually referencing it.

Greensburg to be exact. I've seen three leggy GT's in my area ever.. One was at least stage 1.5, and the other two were stock. Silver, white and ABP, respectively..

Otherwise all 2.5i's driven by mothers & old folks.

Holla..

Not an avid car show participant.. In fact I've never been to one, not that I wouldn't like to, one of these days.

I also flaked on the Bar Louie Meet last tuesday, so I haven't been able to meet any fellow leggy drivers in the area. The exGF and I are trying to reconcile..

Can anyone recommend a Subaru dealer in the Pittsburgh area?

I'm going to New Kunkle Subaru in Delmont (25min drive) for my service needs, but I'd like to start going somewhere else. I've been told incorrect info too many times to continue using their service.

LMK what you got. I'm willing to drive an hour out of the way for peace of mind. I've been to Hamilton, & New Kunkle Subaru and I'm not too fond of either..

I'm also willing to try some subaru auto specialist you might know of.. If they come highly recommended.
