Anyone have buyer's remorse?

Recommended Posts

I do, I went from an 06 to my 08. The 06 was a much better car in my opinion in terms of quality. I love the car, but I'm ready to get rid of it, hopefully working out a deal on an IS350 sport package tomorrow. We'll see.

Too many ******* quirks for 30k

You thought the 08 was a step down in quality?

Isn't it the same car?

interesting

Yes and no. The suspension on this car rattles and squeaks and shudders like no other. It feels loose and shitty, but the dealer finds nothing wrong with it.

My friend who went from an 06 to 08 who has the 5eat says the same thing, he also thinks the tranmission was better in 06, even though it may be the same, they got rid of sport mode and he has a few issues with it shifting rough for no reason sometimes.

Hmmm... my 2008 feels more solid than any other car I've owned... I'd say try another dealership with your suspension issues, because that doesn't sound right.

FYI - 2008 5EAT transmission was seriously adjusted from earlier years.

And what do you mean "they got rid of sport mode"? My 2008 has SI-Drive?

(Oh, and yes, the 2009 Spec-B comes in white. :))

I def. have some regrets. All of my previous cars have been 6cyl or bigger.

While the turbo is fun, the lack of torque down low is really driving me crazy. If I bought over again I'd probably cough up the extra $4k or so and get the G35 instead.

I definitely regret not waiting for the color I wanted also (black/silver/regal blue). The red is ok, but it really makes the car look more sporty and less "classy". It would be nice to have a premium "name". Oh well.

Interesting thoughts...

I also considered a G35 but wanted a four door and could not stand the look fo the G35 sedan. I love the sport coupe but at 27 I got to start thinkign about four doors even if its still a small car. :)

Plus I can't remember if the AWD was readily available for the G35 back when I bought.

Of course now its all about the G37. :)

I have got to see the WHITE SPEC B...

white is my favorite color but subaru hates white.

I believe it was in the spec sheet on one of the threads where white was an avaliable color for the spec B. and white GT's with black interior

Anyone here have buyer's remorse? Such as: "I like the car a lot, but kinda wish I got _____ instead.”

Just curious.

I did, when I bought my 2008 Legacy. I ended up trading 7 months later for a 2008 Outback limited. More hauling space, better in the snow, leather interior. Better all round car and I love it. No more regrets

I won't got as far as to say I regret this '08 purchase, but I agree with everyone who has noticed quality issues with the '08. I traded an '06 Legacy for this 08 and I've noticed way more problems, rattles, suspension noises, bad engine/transmission management issues, rough idle and inconsistent, rough shifting in this model. I've also been reading that this difference in build quality is becoming well documented by surveys, consumer reviews, etc. That said, Subaru is the only car I would buy.

With an '08 Outback LLBean Limited and an '08 Legacy 2.5i Limited, no regrets after a combined 17,000 miles. The Legacy rattles a touch more than I would like, but I still think it's a solid car and great bang for the buck. I used to drive premium cars -- Audi, Saab, BMW, Infiniti -- but I wouldn't go back. There's no need. I have a Boxster that I use primarily on weekends and, for what it's worth, the Legacy steering wheel and leather quality are better, the Porsche has had a few glitches of its own and the oil changes cost eight times as much as the Subaru.

Not remorse but regret. Was thinking of buying a 2.5RS back in summer of 2000, but instead I bought a '00 Grand Am GT. Most unreliable POS I've ever owned. It was fun to drive except for the torque steer, and when it wasn't in the shop. My '06 Impreza isn't that much slower, doesn't feel as fast as the GA had 40 more lb/ft of torque.

As time goes on I am dissatisfied with the tractorlike shifting of my 2005 Legacy GT wagon 5MT. The sunroof cover rattle is junky. I worry about lunching the turbo. That's about it. A lot of fun through the NH mountains yesterday. Stage III, Bilsteins, lowering springs and good tires help.

Greetings, (2nd post here)

We just got the Legacy Limited mainly for a commuter car over the weekend. My girlfriend has been driving it over the weekend and I just took it to work this morning.... This is the 4th Sub that I have owned and would of expected a little bit more out of a 2008 MY car....

Pros:

-Love the looks

-Limited is a pretty good package

-Good performance for a NA car.

-Sport Mode is nice

Cons (Mainly creature comforts)

-No memory Seats

-No smart Key (the new key is HUGE)

-No HID's (i have a set on order)

-No steering wheel audio controls

Overall no regrets and would totally buy it again.... But I am also glad to still have the garage queens around.

It's been 3 years and 50,000 miles for me. Not one problem other than the occasional dash rattle. If i had to do it again, I'd get the same car but I'd get the wagon instead. I find myself having to borrow my Dad's Outback all too often.
