  6. I remember doing the spark plug job a few years back around 60k miles. Now at 125k miles and I recently moved no garage available and its winter so I had my favorite local subaru shop do the spark plugs. Labor only (I had subaru plugs) was $177 (1.5 hours bill time) even though the subaru book lists 2.2 hours. I can't remember how long it took me last time... it was my first Subaru spark plug job so I assume I was in the garage off and on for a good part of the day. $177 is a lot of money but after hearing some of the horror stories in this thread again I don't feel bad about spending the money to have it done quickly and correctly and now I have the entire weekend to get other stuff done. Oh, and after this weekend I'll post any improvement in gas mileage. It hasn't been impressive, but if it improves significantly with new plugs I will be happily surprised.
  7. check out post #8 here: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/check-engine-light-help-egt-sensor-135571.html?t=135571 I had not seen a full explanation so I wrote about my own experience. Bottom line... I don't think you can leave your EGT sensor in. Even with a tune. Any thoughts...
  8. In post number one... what does TDC stand for.... remove crankshaft pulley after setting to TDC
  9. Hey PYROJONES, I didn't understand... what was the mistake?
  10. Hey Cronkey, Reason I ask is that for about 450-575 you can simply buy a 2007-2009 Subaru radio assembly. You are right, if you have digital climate controls you CANNOT put in an aftermarket radio system. However, in 2007 Subaru made the AUX IN standard in the Legacy so all you need to do is order a newer radio. I'm probably going to go that route soon. I don't feel like hacking into the radio to put in my own aux-in although it is much cheaper. I would rather have all the controls and ability built right into the deck. just my thoughts....
  11. How much money do you want to spend on this project?
  12. My Local Parts department quoted me 592 over email... maybe we can make that 450 with a walk in visit.... 600 is a tad high.... I just want to play MUSIC MAN!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. not yet... thinking it would be good to remove and inspect....before a failure
  14. goneskiian!!!! Thanks so much that puts me at rest. I think some of the options out there are great but having the newer radio with everything built in is just too tempting... Especially if I can hunt around and find a great deal. Thanks for clarifying everything including that I only need the FIRST part number. (What is the second one really for then) $450 is the new sales price? THanks again
  15. Can you explain why plugging in the iphone puts it in airplane mode. Thanks
  16. I did read some... not all 40 pages of the ipod integration threads... trying to catch up and get some quick answers from some friendly folks... my concerns were due in party by what I read on these first two original posts... "subwoofer and steering wheel controls will not work" http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/2007-spec-b-radio-information-thread-50364.html?t=50364&highlight=ipod+steering+wheel
  17. What's the latest scoop. I have a 2006 Spec B. I want to use my new IPHONE 4 in my Subaru... ( NO factory aux in) What is the best choice I have... I was thinking of finding a newer head unit that matched but then I read that my sub will not work and my steering wheel controls will not work. I'm not about to add a feature only to loose two more. So can someone update me with the current deal.... thanks
  18. Need to run an iphone for podcasts and music in my 06 spec b. Is this the best option? Compare to radio frequency adapters where I just tune my radio to a particular frequency??? THanks!
  19. HDMI? if it has CD and HDMI.... I might pick it up today!
  20. That is so crazy.... and they even had access to a lift to work under or on top of the car and they still said that! RUN!
  21. re-drilling regular LGT brake rotors to match the pattern... new hubs that are stronger and allow for wider wheels..... no thanks.... I appreciate the explanation.... I've got plenty to do without getting into hub swapping....
  22. thanks for the warning...will stay clear of the slide hammer! pluss I think I have minimal rust...but haven't checked yet...
