I hate rear brake lines. 3/4 done with the car. Need to tackle the driver side rear. Who ever decided to have three of those stupid connections in such a tight space.....sucks.

Figure out if I unbolt the rear upper control arm I can give myself a little more room. It's still a fight though.

mark, what are your thoughts on an in-car fire extinguisher and tow straps. The 5th gen has a tow eye in the front under the bumper along the sub-frame rail, and nothing really great in the rear other than the LCA, but would something like this work, just to have it available?

the stock tow hook is fine, i don't think SV requires you to put even the oem one on. The straps looks kool, our towhook cover is kind of a pain to get flush again (maybe it's just mine).

In car fire extinguisher - sure if you want one, hopefully you never need to use it!

Chris - would be awesome if you made it =) Then we'll have almost all the LGT models representing =p Just need a 4th gen sedan...

Aside from the mandatory helmet, is there anything else that is mandatory?

I see a vehicle inspection report that is needed. So, I'll say that is mandatory as well.

Is there anything I am missing?

Long pants and close toed shoes are required all clothing should be cotton and no synthetic fibers that are not flame resistant

So...mandatory list:

1. helmet

2. vehicle inspection report

3. long pants

4. closed toed shoes

5. all clothing must be cotton or made of flame resistant material

more?

Track Checklist

Note: Many of these things don't apply to a person in a street car, so don't worry about it if you don't have a neck brace, for instance.

Required

• Helmet! - a very bad (and easy) thing to forget

• Tech form - Important

• Car Numbers – required on both sides of the car and rear, a minimum of eight inches high (we will have racer’s tape available at the track for this purpose)

• Cotton or Nomex clothing ONLY. No leather or synthetics allowed.

Highly Recommended (not strictly required)

• Tow hook installed or tow point established

• Driving Suit or long sleeve cotton shirt and cotton pants (although we allow short sleeve shirts and shorts, it is highly discouraged and potentially harmful in the case of an accident)

• Fire Extinguisher

• Extra Brake pads

• Brake fluid

• Drinking Water (Speed Ventures provides water but just in case we run out…)

• Engine Oil - bring a quart or two, just in case

• Hat - for Sun

• Sunglasses

• Sun Screen

• Folding chair

Optional

• Duct tape

• Distilled Water - Radiator

• EZ-UP Canopy - Ideally there would be one for every 4 cars or so, because the sun can be brutal. Hopefully everyone who has one will bring one (and it makes you very popular too).

• Windex - You will kill many bugs on your way to the track.

• Brake Bleeder line

• Racing Neck Brace

• Racing shoes

• Camera

• Hose Clamps

• Jack

• Jack stands

• Jumper Cables

• Service manual

• Torque wrench

• Other tools (sockets, wrenches, pliers...)

• Grease

• Hand Soap

• Ice chest

• Map/directions/phone number of hotel

• Map/directions/phone number of track

• Paper Towels

• Rags

• Run Flat aerosol cans

• Tie Wraps

• Stopwatch

• Race tires

• Spare tire - you never know

• Tire pump

• Tire pressure gauge

• Tire pyrometer

• Flashlight

• Funnel for oil

• Gloves – disposable

mark, is it absolutely necessary to install an AOS prior to tracking the car? Or will I be okay doing it this once without it. Maybe put a few gallons of race gas in it to raise the octane a few points to combat any detonation I might get. I did notice some oil residue in my charge pipe after my first autox a few months ago.

you're fine without one. I never had one. Just make sure you're topped off on oil and make sure it's clean (<2k miles should be fine, I would change if you're over 3k miles). Some AOS can actually hurt your car during track session, i've seen some frothy nasty stuff. GS's is track proven and Crawford's too. Others I would recommend doing some research.

You can add octane boost or higher octane gas. They should have different levels at the track, i think 93, 98, 100+, etc. I've done both, can't tell which works better since i haven't gotten full data logs yet. I keep knocking the dongle off the OBD port lol, so i just said screw it I'll take a LV when i get home.

Some tracks are more expensive in gas than others, so if it's expensive i'll use octane booster. If it's not bad, and i think infineon is one of the ones that doesn't screw you over, then i'll put it 2-3 gallons of 93. T.hill and laguna might be $5-$6 a gal for 91 =\. No tracks provide e85 yet.

If you don't push it that hard, you'll be fine with 1 tank. If you're really pushing it, you'll need 17-18 gallons for 5 sessions. You can always just put 1-2 gallons at the end of the day to get you to the next gas station to fill up at normal price and get home.

I want to see how fast they can tell me I can't fly my quad copter there, it would be nice If I could, never the less I sent the raceway (media and general questions email) a message about what I can and cannot shoot with it.

I have a random assortment of tools. Ramps, jack stands, jack, air pump (plugs into the car's outlet). Ill bring whatever is needed.

Just let me know if I need to go in on a spot with someone. Remembering my time at track events from high school a place to sit out of the sun and relax was much needed.

Thanks for steppinh up.

Do you also have a temperature guage for checking tire temps between sessions?

I ran a set of DWS tires on my 93 impreza track car. They are going to squeel, a lot. I think it will be good as they'll give plenty of warning before they give out. I don't know if you're still running outback 225/55 ratio tires, but the sidewalls are a little soft and they'll flex. Make sure to keep checking the air pressure.

You dont NEED it, it will just slightly lower your combusting octane and just dirty up the intercooler slightly.

The GS style one does produce that froth and I would suggest against it also. If you want something nice the crawford unit is cool but once again I do not agree with letting blown off oil back in, its lost its viscosity once. Id rather a catch can set up and separate the bad from the good.

Yep, still on OBXT sized tires. Any thoughts on what the air pressure should be?

remember to underi-nflate before running. You will gain 5-10psi during a session (cold pressure vs hot pressure).

I start with 31-32 cold and will be around 40-42 coming off the track. Sometimes I may even start at 28 on a hot day.

I'd go slightly above stock pressure and then let it rise on the track. I'd also recommend marking the side wall with something to ensure you're not rolling too much onto the side wall.
