  1. yup, i'd only get those for a flip car or something you don't plan to keep for many miles
  2. there's no dollar amount because the same cheap crap bulbs from the same factories are branded and sold by different companies for widely different amounts. if you're getting LED bulbs that you want to *last*, pony up and get vleds, or if you want top of the line spend the $200 for some morimotos. i am absolutely one that's always looking for a bargain, but when it comes to high failure items and anything that goes between me and the ground(shoes, tires, mattress), pony up and spend the money.
  3. maintenance weekend...annual inspection expired end of last month, i was in need of an oil change and tire rotation, so got her on stands and took care of all of that and inspected all of the crap they do, should pass with flying colors...should. brakes have started pulsing pretty badly though the pads have tons of life left, so i'm going to be getting a new set of rotors and pads here shortly to toss on, just gotta decide what i want to go with
  4. i've been using bridgestone re92s and they've been good, but i'm going to be switching next time...i keep hearing good things about generals and might end up going that way. they're the budget brand for contis, and i've had good luck with contis in the past so i'm curious.
  5. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Subaru-Battery-Tie-Down-Holder-Clamp-Kit-Outback-Legacy-2010-14-OEM/322354843713?epid=920900679&hash=item4b0dd89041:g:YdwAAMXQyfFSCYyW
  6. 5th gens are getting more and more common in junk yards as transmissions fail early and are cost prohibitive to change...nobody's putting 5-7k in to their car that's worth 5-7k. my junk yard has 10 5th gens at the moment...really need to make a trip up there and see if there's any goodies i need...
  7. the only master cylinder brace i know currently being made is coming in from russia, you can find it on ebay
  8. nobody really makes quick struts for these cars, so the drop in is a little more involved, but like the others have said the upgrade to 13/14 struts and springs should make a solid difference
  9. well, do you have a 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder? all of the 4 cylinders have CVTs and the 6 cyl has a standard torque converter transmission
  10. if i remember right, because of the 5th gen's master cylinder and rear calipers, you need to use black sti brembo rears if you're upgrading to the cadillac fronts to keep some semblance of a correct brake bias...so while it's still less expensive than going for a full set of sti brembos, it's still not super cheap
  11. i got a big assortment set of different size push pins and a baggy of 100 of the bumper size pins a few years back, they're so handy to have around, definitely recommend everyone to have them and just replace them when they're sticky or one of the legs break or whatever
  12. good looks getting that set, glad to hear it worked out for ya after some fiddling
  13. happened to mine too, after cleaning with some pb blaster and compressed air i lubed it up with some silicone spray. i condition all the rubber seals door/trunk/hood seals with silicone spray every fall, so i just added the latch mechanism to that list...
  14. usually not a fan of mesh wheels, but they look good there, clean ride.
  15. just make sure you've got a 1 inch and 3 inch extension handy, and a universal joint socket, and they're all easy. once you get the battery and air box out of the way anyways...like dgood said #4 coil requires a bit of maneuvering, but it comes out easy enough, and the rest is cake
  16. yeah, you can't get the stud out for whatever stupid reason...thanks subaru. 901390005 is the part number, they're like $4/per, just buy some new ones.
  17. H501SFJ100 is the part number, fits 10-14 legacys and a whackton of others, so you should be fine.
  18. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2010-2011-2012-Subaru-Outback-Legacy-OEM-Rear-View-Mirror-w-Compass/143794616134?epid=1227054481&hash=item217ad3b746:g:lL0AAOSwgVZfjQHX fiddy bucks and you can add it
  19. that far north it could just be that the fuel at that particular kwiktrip was old and had some water in it. legitstreetcars on youtube ran in to that issue in one of his vids, that since all the toys were put away for the winter and most cars are only requiring regular nowadays, the premium just doesn't get used as much and with ethanol being hygroscopic it picks up water and makes your car run like crap...just a thought
  20. not sure if it does anything, but do you completely remove the key from the ignition barrel before trying again?
  21. oooh humble rumble's going to be very happy with this. thanks for the install notes!
  22. i think once subaru dropped the manual option years back they also dropped any pretense of the legacy being a sports sedan option
