  1. all sounds like a good plan to me! the 18s will definitely fit better. if you wanna upgrade you can pick up some wrx or sti wheels, 15 or 20 mill adapters from 5x100 to 5x114.3 will get em sitting flush. tune is the biggest improvement you can do to these cars...the horsepower gains isn't huge, but the gobs of torque everywhere really liven up the car. BPV, plugs and new coils are good miantenance, same with all the fluids and everything you've done/are doing. mevotech makes new front control arms with stiffer bushings, worth the change. rear sway bar from an sti (19 or 20 mm) really tightens up the rear end...front is impossible to change unless you raise the engine, and that's...a w hole thing. the perrin shifter stop is a must, makes a huge difference. everyone raves about the clutch damper delete...if you're chaning clutch fluid, that's a good time to do it. i've got the part sitting in my shed, but haven't done it for 6+ years...soon though. i'll be doing the kyb/OE springs this spring, so i can't comment on that but i've heard it's a huge difference, i'm excited to see that myself. sounds like you've got a good old plan for the car to get it kinda where it should have been from the factory. hope you enjoy it!
  2. welcome! she looks pretty clean. hope you enjoy it! any plans?
  3. immobilizer popped in to my head...have you put a fresh battery in it at any point?
  4. ooh gotcha, yeah seen them before, i thought you found like an actual socket that you used. i've got the crows feet flare line sockets but they kinda suck, that might be the ticket when i finally get around to doing that mod (he said...having had the part in stock for 6+ years.....)
  5. you right you right, getting my stuff mixed up
  6. the low beams are not DRLs, if they headlight switch is not on the low beams do not turn on, there's a little wedge bulb that is the DRL in the high beam reflector. i think the easiest thing here so we're all on the same page would be to take a couple pictures of the car with the headlight switch turned on, off, and high beams engaged.
  7. sweet. good luck! i always thought if something were to happen to my GT i'd go down the wagon route and swap everything over to an outback shell, hope you get this done, i'd love to see it.
  8. well that was a quick way to answer your own question haha. glad it's something pretty straight forward
  9. @SubaruSquirrel NVAKeith posted this up...if you wanna do a GT transformation there's a chassis for ya..
  10. japan had the wagon variant that had the 2.5t and 5 speed slush box...if i was a gambling man it's the same tranny as the 3.6...so there is precedence for all of this working together, it's just gonna take a lot of piecemealing and working stuff out. better off to buy a wrecked GT off copart (last time i looked there were 4?) and doing a whole swap with everything
  11. got a couple things from DrD, RIP his GT, and got em installed. master cylinder brace, intercooler pipe and some nets for the trunk. got em all installed yesterday morning and everything is peachy! until i hit the highway during rush hour yesterday...i apparently forgot to tighten the clamp around the boost pipe running up to the intercooler. that made for a not very pleasant experience. was able to get it back on though and limp home...5 turns on a screwdriver and it was back how it should be. smh.
  12. i'd also check to make sure you don't have a blowing exhaust somewhere...could throw off the o2 readings
  13. fuel cap/evap shouldn't have much of anything to do with a p0420. if you have an AP you should be able to log the o2's and verify they're functioning properly. if they are then you've got a bad cat. if they aren't then you get to go down the rabbit hole of wiring and electrical. before firing the parts cannon anymore i'd run some logs and start diagnosing
  14. if it's not too late to cancel, DrD has a set of vleds for sale in the forum just fyi
  15. oh, i'm not condemning anyone or judging, it's just like graduating college when you find out that everyone you knew is suddenly going separate ways...lamenting the loss of the OGs and 2nd generation as everyone moves to different platforms. i'll prolly never have another subaru, nothing they make interests me and i can't see that chanigng any time in the near future, but until mine's wrecked or parts are unobtainable, i plan to keep this car. no judgement just how i am. i've got an automatic for daily status, and that'll change up but the LGT is staying in my stable.
  16. did you check the connectors to make sure all the wiring is good? going over bumps changing the behavior sounds like a bad connection somewhere, or broken wire, or some other electrical fault to me
  17. i know a couple people have removed theirs for konis...from what i gathered from old posts they're over damped and over sprung so they're not particularly comfortable. great for handling, bad for comfort. @Scubaboo removed his as far as i can recall. i'd like to hear more experience too, i keep seeing good sets for a reasonable price and am curious...my lady needs new shocks and they've got my itching
  18. yeah a pressure washer took a whole bunch out of my A pillar. i stopped using a pressure washer immediately after that. my 20 year old acura never had a problem, my 12 year old volkswagen doesn't have this problem...ah well
  19. been happening to mine for a few years...hood, a pillars, roof. subaru's never been known for their paint quality, but i've never seen laquer peel like on this gen. definitely is quite sad, but i don't have the funds for a whole new paint job so....i've just learned to live with it. you can do some at home fixes, but...eh.
  20. kew kew thanks...pics looks like it has an in/out for the harness but we'll see...haven't ordered yet but it seems super handy
