  1. if you're using the cigarette lighter in front of the shifter, the rubber mat pops up and there are some convenient holes that you can fish a wire through if you end up leaving it like that. my cam broke a few days ago and i ripped the wiring out otherwise i'd post a picture, but it made for a super tidy install, went straight from the cigarette adapter and was hidden away GL with the rear one, if it has to run all the way up to the front camera too, that's gonna be annoying, might have to run the wire on the opposite side of the front so it can all tuck under the a pillar and head liner without forcing anything
  2. Hey guys, thought someone might want to jump on these...fortune auto is doing a black friday scratch and dent sale...they've got a set of BM/BR(listed under 09+ outback) 500 series coils for $420(nice), versus the normal $1400. 8/10k springs, so might need to buy different springs afterwards, but you'll be saving a heap. probably only one set, but hell of a price for a set of hand built in the US coilovers. https://www.shop-fortune-auto.com/collections/blackfriday
  3. sounds like the right way to do it. i don't have a rear one, but i can't imagine it'd be hard to run it down the c pillar trim to the floor, and under the door sill trims all the way up to the fuse box. front is easy enough, the wire can just tuck in behind the a pillar and down, everything kinda falls in to place nicely once you run it down the pillar.
  4. i think at this point everyone should get a dash cam, even if it's a cheapish one..they're so readily available that it's just cheap insurance. are they getting hardwired in or do they run off the cigarette adapter?
  5. I had that issue for a minute, i just ended up loosening the bracket and playing around with its positioning and it eventually sat flush.
  6. i agree, i'd like to see the BRZ around 260 like the WRX, but that would bite in to the supra sales, and toyota ain't gonna let that happen. the civic already has a 1.5t available, wouldn't be surprised if they just rock that engine for the whole lineup since it's been stress tested and kinks worked out at this point. could make for a zippy little car with a tune
  7. new BRZ and civic dropped today...gotta say, BRZ reminds me of a baby coupe panamera, and i like it. new civic looks a *whole* lot like the 7th gen GLI, and i...don't know how i feel about it. big tone down from the current gen
  8. might be the one i've seen in the city in richmond. 522's a nice stretch to take a ride on, and easy to get to from here. don't think the owner's on here though
  9. not without a lot of work. https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/fa-headers-unicorn-280391.html basically, the vf54 has a different flange and core than the others, so unless you're swapping in a lot of stuff, you can't just bolt on a wrx turbo. there's a company in russia that makes a header that you can use different turbos with, or you can have a shop build out a custom header, but there's no other stock turbos that are plug and play. tomioka also makes a vf54 hybrid, and bnr supercars makes a couple hybrids that you can use as well...in fact FabSX has one for sale in the classifieds right now.
  10. last time i had it off i cleaned mine. i just used a can of brake cleaner, sprayed it in from both sides and swirled it around some before pouring it out, rinsed with water, blasted with compressed air, and left in the sun to bake and dry. mine wasn't particularly dirty, but still had some residue come out
  11. eh, just because you don't know a diagnosis doesn't mean you're incompetent mechanically. also doesn't mean other people can't have a discussion...
  12. don't think you misled anyone, and i think a shop that was doing this day in and day out would actually get the use out of a $3k tool, i was just shocked at the price and definitely noted that is not a homegamer's specialty tool, unlike a lot of the tools that are actually reasonably priced
  13. yeah, there's a harbor freight one for like $80, and others online for around that
  14. ha, that subaru tool is $3k, so that's a big old bag of nope. have a transmission jack, and can rig something up to hold the engine, i know they make engine supports so wouldn't be too bad.
  15. eh, took my an hour of fiddling doing it on the ground on 2.5is to get everything lined up, with getting on the dowels and getting the angle and height right, but it was doable. sounds like except for the enging mounting situation shouldn't be too much different to do it on the GT. i'd personally rather dick around with the trans than pulling the engine since i'm working on the side of a city street, but that's good to know about the engine mounts...will have to figure some support beam out.
  16. does the motor actually need to be removed in the GT? i've done clutches on older 2.5s and you can just drop the tranny. I ask this since i've started getting some nasty chatter out of my clutch and am planning on replacing eventually
  17. i've only sold 4 cars privately, but each time i just disregard the people that don't ask any legitimate questions. if the first question is if there's any room to drop the price i don't even respond. i leave my listings kinda vague, leaving out some key points that anyone that's serious about the vehicles would want to know(mentioning recent maintenance but not the actual jobs performed etc). if someone's actually interested they'll ask about it. if they end up not liking the car, fine, but it's not just somebody killing their and my time.
  18. think he's talking about the slot on the lid scuba...in that case yeah it looks like it's for business cards, or toll cards or something like that
  19. i did some digging around on the subaru parts website and it looks like they use different crossmembers. i don't know why they would, maybe it's just a mistake since the manuals are uncommon, but take a look and snap a couple pictures, should be able to tell more... like dgood said, i haven't been under a 2.5i in ages, let alone a manual one.
  20. you could probably make it fit, but you might have to zip tie or modify it to get it on, depends how the cowls under the car differ. the big question mark is if you've got a mounting hole on (i believe) the transmission crossmember that the part i circled bolts on to. if not then you're gonna be flappy, or you're going to need to zip tie and rig stuff up so that it doesn't.
  21. unless you have a garage or some place out of the elements to spray paint the results are just way too hit or miss. little too humid? foggy. too much wind? splotchy. it's an enormous PITA. I'm not particularly good with spray paint either, but that said I have had good luck with 2k clear in the past. it goes on a bit easier than rustoleum or whatever, and flattens out nice since the hardener has a good flash time. i keep threatening myself to take the headlights out so I can really polish em and paint em with 2k in the shed, just haven't gotten around to it.
  22. from what i understand, unless you're pushing big power, or doing something where you'd have a lot of heat soak(drag racing etc), or need it for packaging(like stock superchargered V8s, crammed tiny engine bays etc), water intercoolers really aren't worth the extra effort
  23. always sad to see someone's baby go to a new home, but i'm glad you found a good one for her. This is such an odd, small dedicated community that both the pain and happiness are felt by everyone. GL with the beamer, that's gonna be another fun ride for you
  24. yeah, that's a prime parts car, who cares what color it is...someone with patience could part that car out after taking the engine out and make all of their money back plus some.
