  1. I have a friend who upgraded to Tesla style headunit, and I purchased his old headunit from him(it's fujitsu my13). The main point is - purchase Tesla style headunit ONLY in case of good local support and aftersales warranty. Chinese headunit manufacturers made a huge step forward compared to their older buggy slow devices they started from and as my friend told - it has many features, works fast, no bugs and he likes it a lot, but you still may face with defects with it. At least - I've heard he had some issues during installation (he paid company for installation as well), which were fixed by company which sold the device. Please note, there may be many similar looking units from various Chinese manufacturers with different specifications. Please also note, my friend old device did not have a separate oem amplifier but your McIntosh has it, so please ensure it contains amp wiring also. Some highlights of his installation: How it looks inside: Switched on: Tesla and Fujitsu compared: Headunit device: Rear side: Car without headunit: Tesla connected (see it has plug n play wiring for his car): My personal opinion: I don't like aggressive interior changes with Chinese devices, which did not exist during car release years as it looks as air suspension integration to village cart. Yes, it adds some functionality (especially modern navigation apps with recent maps) but it changes the interior look significantly and I don't like it. But it's not your case, if you are looking at it as McIntosh replacement. Another point is how this unit processes sound - but for stock speaker setup it (most probably) does not make sense.
  2. Finally i have upgraded to facelift sideview mirrors. And i dont know what to do next...
  3. Wiring different as clock spring is different. But can repin for old clock spring. Audio controls switch resistance is different for navigation. Look for my facelift steering wheel retrofit article on this forum.
  4. If brake blinking with no check engine and vdc then have to reaf errors from brake control unit. May be a need to recalibrate parking brake strength sensor (which strengtens the parking brake cable). Have to read eror code first. It may show issue with parking cable or issue with electric motor which pulls the brake cable. Errors can read with ssm (subaru select monitor) only
  5. Where have you found rims and how much did you pay for it?
  6. If you become tired of lenses polishing or it gets some cracks - you can purchase new glass on aliexpress. I just noticed - mine got some small cracks around on edges. PS: if someone is willing to do the same clone project and is not good at painting, I have my old genuine EU (it has no side reflector) black bezels collecting dust..
  7. I looked at the bezels when did pictures for Falcor, well, these are harder to tape compared to facelift ones. And my painting work was not that perfect, there are some painting issues on the painted surface edges, which i had to re-tape and repaint using brush. For taping i used airbrush adhesive tape which you can stretch. You make a contour with it, then cover the rest area with the normal paint tape:
  8. Original xenon lights were officially subject for Subaru Goodwill company (parts for free, pay for labour). The issue is that koito xenon lens coating burns out with time. I could not apply for goodwill as this car is not serviced at dealer anymore.
  9. Not necessary. I removed top grill clips, removed side wheel housing/bumper clip and gently pulled out the bumper side till i get access to headlight side screws. Then also pulled it a little out from top to release headlights. No need to take it off completely.
  10. Here's the picture for you of hi-tech headlights for our cars :lol: Here's my headlight project report, it uses google auto-translate engine but i hope you can get the idea. Headlight removal link. You can actually browse the whole logbook of my car changes via google translate there.
  11. Clutch was replaced around 20k miles ago. It looked from aside that car just stands still and nothing happens, as vdc prevents rotation of wheels. When the wheels start to rotate, vdc just decreases the engine rpm, wheels loose power and stop. I played with clutch pedal to prevent stop the engine and it made the clutch slip all time. If VDC is off - the clutch blocks the gearbox with the flywheel and all power would go to the wheels (it would just slip on the ground all the time). The car still smells, I will replace the clutch to be ready for winter joy.
  12. I did a bad thing... Helped to pull out the truck from mud, forgot to turn VDC off and burned my clutch. The clutch seems to be not dead completely as it still drives and RPMs do not jump with gentle acceleration. And the car smells... And another fail - the mirrors i purchased were not genuine (but new). Installation failed as the mirror body has a gap with mirror frame and it shakes during drive. Will return it back and look for used genuine mirrors.
  13. small harness is for aftermarket rearview cam if your socket is empty. big harness (more expensive) is for genuine rearview cam, which requires power (red wire) from headunit and your socket is not empty. You can also purchase more expensive wiring but not use additional wires (red and black - but you have to isolate contacts).
  14. Look for "subaru rear view cam adapter" (on aliexpress) with 8 pin plug if your wiring does not have it. Or 8 pin plug: 1 pin - video signal 5 & 6 pins - ground 24pin plug should already contain backup light wire (brown/yellow) for reverse gear in pin 5.
  15. I have McIntosh for Facelift model. It's JDM model with with Japanese radio frequency range (I used it with frequency range converter for Radio and with aftermarket amplifier (i have soldered 2 RCA Stereo outputs to amp plug and used it with Audison Bit One), has built in 6cd changer and MD deck. You don't need to look for OEM amp, as it is designed for 8 Ohm OEM speakers. You can reuse my stereo output for any aftermarket amp and add another pair of RCA for rear outputs. It can be integrated into LHD car as well, with inner panel modification (with dremel tool) for alarm switch and hvac bottom side modification to match with car tray. There is still a small gap on top left corner, but not that big. Picture above is from my car. Please PM me if you are interested.
  16. My knob was not in best shape and i haven't found the underneath separately, so purchased complete knob
  17. I had McIntosh in my LHD Legacy. It does not fit plug and play. It needs some small modification (with dremel tool) of inner panel (to accept alarm switch) and some modification bottom of hvac unit to match with ash tray. Side trim parts have a tiny gap anyway, but not very noticeable, check second picture left top corner: These are old pics, i sold the car 2 years ago, but this JDM McIntosh stands in my garage still along with JDM cluster.
  18. Hi guys, does anybody want my Nexus?
  19. A little update to this post. I was a little wrong about audio controls resoldering - it was related to LED only.
  20. Can't use airbag trim. Round airbag cover has different mounting. So cant use MY14 airbag cover with MY10 airbag. But if you have MY14 airbag, then you can use MY16 airbag cover and swap latest gen. steering wheel (satellite switch needs resistance resoldering).
  21. I had STI Genome and HKS Silent HiPower exahausts on my wagon. There are plenty of videos on Youtube how both sound.
