95 is about where cornpression tested on a full blown Ringland fail for #4. Already bored to 95.75 and now to 100mm. Funny and sad part is I never had an issue with oil consumption until changing to forged pistons. YMMV -
Luckely looking back at my gasket order from M45... I have it! Didn't have the energy to get back in the garage last night. Hopefully it's not too hot to muttle about in there later this afternoon. Still want to talk to Killer B and get some torque spec from them on the pan and pickup tube bolts.

Tehnation's Ballin on a budget rebuild!
kzr750r1 replied to Tehnation's topic in Engine Rebuild Threads (Engines Only)
Been there. Take a step back and breath a min. For my situation it ended up new head castings. These castings now have new valves and guides installed after 100K ish. Reason for my issue was having a machine shop try to do time serts in the plug holes to help mitigate additional cracking from the plug bore to the valve seat. Some said run it others said pitch them. I was out of money and time. Trying this workaround cost me both. Shop that did the work botched it and didn't do a proper shoulder cut/seat of the insert. Then the owner botched them more trying to machine the shoulder down. Long story short I made the decisions with the second shop to move my parts over to the new castings. When I should have just gone full build. But that part is history now I'm trying not to repeat. -

Hopefully they can clear it out and place a timesert or helicoil. Bunch of heat is going to cause some other issues... Sucks. Sorry. -
Heads on. Took a couple pics. Stalled at the moment. One exhaust cam is turning with some resistance after torqued. Other three feel smooth. No burrs or other issues found so far. Will swap exhaust cams tonight and see of they feel better. Turned to the oil pickup install and found KillerB didn't provide two in the hardware kit for some reason. Not putting this back together with a vulcanized flat oring in the suction stack. Would work like a cracked straw.

Oil pump arrived at my doorstep. Confirmed with oring seal to the case. So no waiting any longer. Time to build this long block!

New year, new build...v.3.0...R?

Sounds good on the instagram launch videos. -
Went to carcovers.com. What you see is the $180 unit. Ships out of Canada, nice unit. Rained here Sunday morning. Noticed water beading up on it while opening up the garage that morning.

Parts still rolling in. Found some other items needed. Have plenty to start the rebuild by this weekend. Chipping away at it. Doing some upgrades on the ZRX in the meantime. New SS 4/1 pipe. 2.5 Rejet for Mo Flow filter w/airbox. New clutch frictions and springs. New Battery Tray Mod. Swapping hose clamps to Samco sleeved units since one kept fighting me with coolant spittle. Needed to be sure no other leaking and for sure it's just the one spot.

Installed some Timken on the OBXT last year. They were bought thru Rock Auto years ago. Since I was replacing both from CV figured it was time. Sure enough... Was a good move. Still on stock wheel set so probably not pushed hard over their life. Seems most go thru them faster on larger wheels with more offset.

I'd offer some of mine, if needed/fit, but have to catch up. Parts are still rolling in for my rebuild and I'm waiting so no stalling once it begins. Heads are scheduled to go on next weekend. -

Let me dig. May be a MC forum where I last found one. Formula could be modified I'm sure. -
Can't see pictures while on company VPN so will circle back. To be honest only scanned your posts. Yikes man lots of typing. Not seeing the #4 cylinder cooling mod on your list. Get that one too. 100mm Wiseco for me on this current build. Last stab for the block. Curious about the air suspension works out.

I forgot all three (2 pully and crank) were purchased and used the timing belt pinch trick for the AVC pulleys... Then found it in the tool vault after done. DOH! Be nice if company 23 would make a TIC pully bolt compatible lock. Never going back to those bloody allen head bolts.

Tehnation's Ballin on a budget rebuild!
kzr750r1 replied to Tehnation's topic in Engine Rebuild Threads (Engines Only)
Yes all of them have a different size. Reason I went with all new valves is the machine shops ground the tops for clearance. I say plural as there were two involved in my last rebuild. Nightmare. Mic is the right way to check what current bucket is in there regardless of the writing... -

Yes. You need to check after the heads are on the SB for final measurement. Measure and buy new buckets. They were $20 bucks a piece last time I bought several. Still have what was pulled during last rebuild but need to get the heads on my project and see if I need any of them.
