  1. Yeah. Just mentioning it because it will help keep it in place. Nice to hear from you Mike!
  2. No on the monitoring or logs. Have not found evidence of a vacuum leak yet. Took a break from the garage to focus on work. Will be back at the tear down later this week.
  3. Not clear yet. Will see more once the remove the heads and tear down the block steps are complete. Oil level looked right Saturday morning and just needed a change after that first leg. The shop I did it with didn't take the belly pan off for the change. Plus started messing with the airbox to change the filter and I told them stop. Oil and Filter Change only boys. Not sure yet if the intake is ripped at the turbo. It's probably the beginning of the issues. Just outside of Madison is where DAM number dipped past 1.0. Then kept happening more and more. Was stopping and resetting. But after a while just let it pull timing and watched it flip from .25 and back to 1.0. After getting home did pull a P2227. Intake pressure issue and explains a little. Sensor measured ok according to the manual. More likely my turbo bit it at the end and not the middle, lucky there... I was adding a little oil at stops in AZ and Cali.
  4. Of course there is a special tool Subaru has to hold it in place. It's just a piece of bent metal. Attaches to the lower starter stud. I'll probably be measuring and bending one out of some scrap for the install and future motor pulls.
  5. 2006. Was several years back. Not 100% sure. It was a full kit they offered for the Legacy GT that could be used for the OBXT. I just didn't use their end links and kept using the moog.
  6. As it sits currently. Didn't pull the torque converter out as well this time.
  7. Oil change in Wisconsin. Brought the materials. Likely hurt it before and the 29 hours of drive time first leg from Cali began nailing the coffin. It was pissed all the way from MO to TX. TX to NM. NM back to Cali. Could only maintain spring pressure or less up the valley from Bakersfield. Here is a taste. First leg. 7 gas stops. 9 pee breaks. 100oz of coffee. UT thru WY is not advised in April at 3AM. https://www.relive.cc/view/vrqokrgVYyq
  8. Continuing from the last thread that can be closed now. https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/kzr750r1-2006-obxt-head-gasket-motor-refresh-228229p42.html Motor is pooched again. Hurt it on a 5K loop around the country. Some long and as many have said unsafe number of hours behind the wheel. Motor is back out of the car. Were at 250K on the chassis and 5EAT. Need a new turbo as well.
  9. Sure. Gonna be a while. Motor rebuild in progress. Just pulled it this weekend...
  10. 4 bolts thru the port max showed. Just pulled mine again. Make sure the converter stays in place and drop the inspection tray. The lower studs will try to drag the converter out. Happened last time to me. Luckily no damage. Take your time. Use a level adjuster for the hoist. Jack that trans up as you go. It will come out. Did it solo this time.
  11. Well time for another adventure. It's out again. New build thread to start soon.
  12. The whiteline anti sway bar kit F&R and AVO rear stiffener mount was bar none one of the best mods I've ever placed on this chassis. Transforms the car!
  13. Was looking at IAG and Outfront but now probably a rebuild with M45 may be my choice. They can do the heads as well. Then tune with Snail in house.
  14. #4 is 90lb cold. Were hosed. Going to be pulling it for a rebuild now not just major maintenance. Oil left in the case is low. Oil all over the intake. Shimmery coolant (that's new)? Have found the shop in the foothills that supports primarily Subaru with a machine shop. They sound reasonable with procing and parts. Willing to work with me as a wrenching owner. Will pull the block down, hand over parts for inspection. Hand over the heads for evaluation and rebuild. Snail performance is affiliated and who tuned the car on the dyno last.
  15. Shhhhhh. Leave him alone. Let's live it together.
  16. Been considering adding some wings to my thick primitive plate. The O2 is pretty exposed. Will probably plug the oil drain holes as I just drop it for maintenance anyway. Stud for the front mounts helps a bunch.
  17. We will see soon. Motor is coming out. I'm not going to do all of this in the chassis. At that point may drop the Differential and Trans for long term refresh. 250K on this 5EAT.
  18. Yeah a bit of oil residue tells me I have a head gasket leak. Hopefully no cracks on these head castings. Only 95K on these castings.
  19. In the same position. Compression numbers not even and shimmery coolant??? Packing it in for the day and get ready to pull this motor.
  20. Will have to pull a log. Should have already. May have a road block and lost access to usb till I get a personal pc. Will check tonight and confirm.
  21. I didn’t sleep for 37 hours. 29 hours was just drive time. I paused the app when stopping for fuel. We’ll we’re at p2227. Just tested the MAP sensor and it’s reading ok according to the book. Time to start peeling back the 7 layers of hell and look more for an intake leak. Or any other shenanagins. What’s odd is the oil residue covering the PCV hoses… keep in mind I used the free range hose kit on this build. The only hoses that seem to sweat oil are the head to pvc. It’s time for the peel back. Compression test. Tear down. How far will be determined shortly. It’s due for a timing belt service and I’ll probably get a new 10mm oil pump. This 11mm is probably part of this pressure issue.
  22. P2227 after limping it home after the last 16 hours from NM to Nor Cal. Time to dive into major maintenance. MAP sensor diagnosis first. Interesting to see residual oil in the nooks and crannies. Belt change on the books. Well see soon if compression is even in all 4. I'm not going to do this hot like the book states.
